Nate Johnson Earns BIG EAST Conference Honor After Career Game Vs. Virginia Tech

Xavier has had a player honored in each of the first three weeks of the awards.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University senior Nate Johnson has been named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll, the third straight week a Musketeer has earned the award. Senior Adam Kunkel was honored last Monday, Nov. 22, and senior Paul Scruggs earned it on Monday, Nov. 15, with the first set of BIG EAST weekly awards of the season.
Johnson, who was named to the Upsie NIT Season Tip-Off All-Tournament Team, scored a Xavier career-high 30 points on 10-14 shooting, including 7-11 3-pointers, in the 59-58 win over Virginia Tech on Nov. 26, including the game-winning 3-pointer with 25 seconds left. Johnson, who was XU's only double-figure scorer, scored over half of the points for short-handed Xavier. XU was without preseason BIG EAST First Teamer Zach Freemantle as well as a trio that started each of the first five games: Colby Jones, Jerome Hunter and Dieonte Miles.
For the week Johnson averaged 19.0 ppg., 4.0 rpg. and 1.0 spg. in two games. Johnson, who leads Xavier in scoring at 13.0 ppg., is one of four XU players averaging in double figures in scoring.
Xavier, 5-1, hosts Central Michigan on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.
