No. 11 Women's Soccer Falls to St. John's in BIG EAST Semifinals

Musketeers move to 16-2-1 overall, await NCAA Championship Selection Show set for Monday
CINCINNATI - A goal from the BIG EAST's leading scorer gave No. 11 Xavier women's soccer its second set-back of the season, as the No. 1 seeded Musketeers fell, 1-0, to No. 4 seed St. John's at Corcoran Field. The Musketeers move to 16-2-1 on the season.
 
The two teams played to a scoreless draw in the first half, with Xavier leading 6-1 on shots and creating six corner kicks to a pair for the Red Storm. Molly McLaughlin had a pair of looks on-frame to lead the Musketeers in the first 45 minutes.
 
Out of the break, St. John's struck first on a goal from Zsani Kajan, the BIG EAST's leading scorer, to take a 1-0 lead. Xavier out-shot the Red Storm 9-3 in the second half, including a Carrie Lewis strike that bounced off the cross bar, but were unable to find the equalizer, setting the final score at 1-0.
St. John's advanced to the BIG EAST Championship match, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal between the No. 2 Georgetown and No. 3 Butler.
Xavier awaits the NCAA Championship bracket for its next match-up, with the selection show set for Monday, Nov. 8 at 4:30 p.m., with the selections streamed live on NCAA.com.
