Jack Nunge Earns BIG EAST Conference Player Of The Week Award

No. 22 Xavier has had a player honored five weeks in a row.
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University junior Jack Nunge has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in wins this past week over Ball State on Dec. 8 and Cincinnati on Dec. 11. Nunge averaged 20.0 points and 10.0 rebounds for the two games, while recording collegiate career highs in scoring (31) and rebounding (15) to go with two assists, a block and a steal in the win over UC.
Nunge is second on the team in scoring at 13.0 ppg., which ranks 19th in the BIG EAST, and second in rebounding at 7.5 rpg., which ranks eighth in the BIG EAST. He leads the team in field goal percentage (sixth in the BIG EAST at .558) and blocked shots (tied for seventh in the BIG EAST at 1.7 bpg.).
Nunge, XU's first BIG EAST Player of the Week this season, is not the first XU player to be honored by the league. In fact, XU has had someone honored five weeks in a row including four times on the BIG EAST Honor Roll. Senior Nate Johnson has earned BIG EAST Honor Roll twice, while seniors Paul Scruggs and Adam Kunkel have also earned that honor.
Xavier, 9-1 and ranked No. 22 in this week's Associated Press Poll, hosts Morehead State on Wednesday in its final non-conference game of the season.
