Satterfield, Townsend Post Double-Doubles in 65-58 Win Over Southeast Missouri

Ayanna Townsend recorded a career-high 18 points and 15 rebounds on Sunday afternoon
CINCINNATI - Kae Satterfield and Ayanna Townsend posted double-doubles on Sunday afternoon, leading Xavier to a 65-58 win over Southeast Missouri. The Musketeers moved to 5-6 on the year, while the Redhawks dropped to 4-7.
Satterfield finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds, her fifth career double-double. The 17 points matched her career in scoring.
Townsend recorded a career-high 18 points and 15 rebounds, her third career double-double and first of the season.
• Xavier opened the game on an 8-3 run capped by a Kae Satterfield layup with 4:55 on the clock. SEMO responded with six unanswered points, taking a one-point lead (9-8) and forcing a Xavier timeout (3:24). The Redhawks pushed their lead out to three points (11-8) with just over two minutes left in the quarter before the Musketeers closed the frame by scoring three straight points, tying the game at 11-11.
• The second quarter was back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than two points. An Ayanna Townsend jumper with 2:20 on the clock gave Xavier a 25-23 advantage before Taelour Pruitt knotted the game at 25-25 with a basket with just over a minute left in the half. The first half had seven ties and seven lead changes with the largest lead being five points (Xavier, 8-3, at 4:55 in first quarter).
• Nia Clark had a game-high 10 points at the break, while Ayanna Townsend chipped in eight points and a game-high seven rebounds. Xavier forced 11 turnovers, converting the miscues into 13 points. SEMO held a 29-20 advantage on the glass in the first half and scored three more second-chance points (9-6).
• SEMO started the second half on an 8-0 run on 4-for-4 shooting, taking a 33-25 lead and forcing a Xavier timeout (7:54). The Musketeers responded with seven unanswered points, closing within one point (33-32) with 5:31 on the clock. The Redhawks kept up their hot shooting, outscoring Xavier, 15-8, to close the frame - taking a 48-40 lead. SEMO hit 61.1 percent (11-for-18) of its shot attempts in the third quarter.
• Xavier opened the final stanza on a 6-0 run, closing within two points (48-46). A Nia Clark three pointer at the 5:46 mark regained the lead for the Musketeers, 53-52.
• SEMO regained the lead, 55-54, on a Taelour Pruitt free throw with 4:04 left in regulation before the Musketeers closed the game on an 11-3 run - pulling away for the 65-58 victory. Xavier went 4-for-4 from the floor during the late run.
• Xavier went 7-for-13 from the floor in the final quarter, outscoring the Redhawks, 25-10. The Musketeers limited SEMO to a .167 field-goal percentage (3-for-18) in the final quarter.
