Women's Swimming Faces Ball State on Saturday

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's swimming returns to the pool on Saturday, February 13, traveling to Muncie, Ind. to face the Ball State Cardinals. Events are set to begin at noon.

BALL STATE NOTES |
- The Cardinals are 3-0 on the season with wins over Eastern Illinois, Bowling Green and Bellarmine. BSU will also face Miami (Ohio) on Friday before the meet with Xavier.
- Ball State finished eighth at last season's MAC Championships.
- The Cardinals started the 2020-21 season in November and are currently 3-0 in meets with racing events, picking up wins over Eastern Illinois, Bowling Green and Bellarmine.
- Xavier last faced Ball State in a four-team meet with IUPUI and UIndy in January 2018, with the Musketeers sweeping the other three squads.

WOMEN LAST TIME OUT |
- Against Miami (Ohio) the the Xavier women collected two event wins, but fell 186.5-66.5
- Kali Fischer, Alison Herman, Taylor Hogan and Clara Keiser opened the meet with a third place finish in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:52.85.
- Kali Fischer swept the backstroke events, with times of 56.72 in the 100 back, and 2:03.51 in the 200 back.
- Clara Keiser led the Musketeers in a pair of events, tying for second in the 100 free (53.78) and taking fourth in the 200 free (1:57.70).
- Alison Herman led Xavier in two events, placing second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.67 and finishing fourth in the 100 breast with a time of 1:05.30.
- Emma Kauffeld and Erin Ritz each picked up a second place finish in a distance free event. Ritz finished the 1000 free in 11:12.02, while Kauffeld completed the 500 free in 5:24.87.
- Maureen Cummins and Taylor Hogan both led the Musketeers in a race, picking up a third-place finish in the process. Cummins' placed third in the 50 free with a time of 24.53. Hogan placed third in the 200 fly with a time of 2:07.06.
- Kelly Harris and Anna Baker each led the Musketeers in a race, with Harris taking fourth in the 200 breast and Baker taking fifth in the 100 fly.
- Lorelei Gaertner, Maureen Cummins, Kali Fischer, and Clara Keiser set a time of 1:37.90 in the 200 free relay to finish second.

XAVIER WOMEN |
- Xavier's women finished third at the 2020 BIG EAST Championships, collecting three first place finishes along the way.
- Xavier returns seven All-Conference honorees, including the BIG EAST Champ in the 200 fly, Taylor Hogan.
- All-BIG EAST Team members Brooke Atkins, Clare Bosse, Maureen Cummins, Lorelei Gaertner, Erin Merke and Lydia Schaeffer also return.
- Xavier's roster is also bolstered by the addition of an eight-person incoming class on the women's side.
- The Musketeers had five graduate following last season. Among the graduating class were four All-BIG EAST performers, including Emily Conners who led the Musketeers with all-conference performances in seven events last season, including the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free.
