Swimming Adds Miami Last Chance Meet to Schedule this Weekend

Two-day meet runs from Friday to Saturday
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming added another outing to its schedule, traveling up the road to Oxford, Ohio, this weekend to take part in the Miami Last Chance Meet, running from Friday, February 26 to Saturday, February 27.

 LAST CHANCE MEET |
- This is Xavier's first time taking part in Miami's last chance meet.
- In addition to the RedHawks, Xavier will compete against Oakland and UIndy as well.
- Xavier traveled to Miami on February 6, with the Musketeers picking up five event wins but falling to Miami.

 UPCOMING SCHEDULE |
- Xavier will be back in action on March 6, when the Musketeers will host an intrasquad scrimmage at the Heidt Family Champions Center.
- Xavier closes out the 2021 regular season in a two-day meet at Indana State with Missouri State on March 19-20.

 MEN LAST TIME OUT |
- Xavier's men collected five event wins at Denison but fell by a score of 155-106.
- Alex Sironen, Jon Bernard, Roark Lundal and Christian Thomas opened up the meet with a first place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:32.75.
- Andrew Martin led Xavier in a pair of events, finishing first in the 500 free with a time of 4:36.14, and taking second in the 1000 free with a time of 9:34.46.
- Ben Quon picked up an event win in the 100 back with a time of 51.32.
- Roark Lundal took first in the 100 fly with a time of 50.93.
- Jon Bernard led Xavier in three events, including both breast stroke events, finishing the 100 breast in 57.19 and the 200 breast in 2:05.18, as well as the 400 IM with a time of 4:02.59, with all three being second place finishes.
- Christian Thomas led Xavier in the freestyle sprints with times of 21.41 in the 50 and 47.40 in the 100.
- Nick Mahoney posted the top time by a Musketeer in the 200 back, 1:57.87, finishing third.
- Daniel Stroh led Xavier in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.89.
- Jack Parker led Xavier in the 200 fly with a 1:58.85 time.
- Xavier closed out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay for Ethan Wing, Ben Quon, Christian Thomas and Andrew Martin with a time of 3:05.62.

 WOMEN LAST TIME OUT |
- Xavier picked up four event wins at Denison but fell by a final score of 172-87.
- Kali Fischer, Lydia Schaeffer, Taylor Hogan and Clara Keiser led off the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:49.07.
- Kali Fischer won a pair of events, the 100 back (57.21) and 200 back (2:03.85).
- Taylor Hogan led the Musketeers in two events, touching the wall first in the 200 fly in a time of 2:07.83 and taking second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:37.48.
- Kelly Harris also collected an event win in the 200 breast with a time of 2:28.13.
- Clara Keiser collected a second-place finish in the 200 free with a time of 1:57.91.
- Tilly Baldwin led the Musketeers in the 1000 free with a time of 11:09.53, finishing third.
- Maureen Cummins led Xavier in the 50 free, with a third place finish with a time of 25.15.
- Lorelei Gaertner picked up a third-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 59.55.
- Alison Herman led Xavier in the 100 breast with a time of 1:09.01.
- Sophia Romero posted the top time by the Musketeers in the 100 free, finishing in 56.27.
- Anna Voelkerding posted the top time by Musketeer in the 500 free, 5:23.83.
- Xavier closed out the meet with a second place finish in the 400 free relay for Kali Fischer, Clara Keiser, Lydia Schaeffer and Maureen Cummins with a time of 3:36.13.

- Xavier's men will look for a third-straight team BIG EASTÂ Championship this season, with eight All-BIG EAST performers returning from last season.
- Among Xavier's returnees are is freestyle distance specialist Andrew Martin, who led the Musketeers in individual points scored at last season's conference meet. During his rookie season, Martin took home the BIG EAST Championship in the 1,650 free with an NCAA B-Cut time, and collected a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 free and 500 free, posting school records in all three races.
- Xavier also return all-conference performers Jon Bernard, Noah Coomler, Ben Quon, Jared Ritz, Will Serad, Alex Sironen and Christian Thomas.
- Xavier added a pair of newcomers to the roster, Reed Harris and Jack Parker.
- The Musketeers lost three members of last year's BIG EAST Championship squad to graduation, including two-time BIG EAST Champion in the 200 fly, Landon Clark, and Brandon Abboud, who earned All-BIG EAST in a team-leading five events last season.Â

- Xavier's women finished third at the 2020 BIG EAST Championships, collecting three first place finishes along the way.
- Xavier returns seven All-Conference honorees, including the BIG EAST Champ in the 200 fly, Taylor Hogan.
- All-BIG EAST Team members Brooke Atkins, Clare Bosse, Maureen Cummins, Lorelei Gaertner, Erin Merke and Lydia Schaeffer also return.
- Xavier's roster is also bolstered by the addition of an eight-person incoming class on the women's side.
- The Musketeers had five graduate following last season. Among the graduating class were four All-BIG EAST performers, including Emily Conners who led the Musketeers with all-conference performances in seven events last season, including the 50 free, 100 free and 200 free.
