CINCINNATI - Xavier men's golf is set for the BIG EAST Championships on April 26-28. The three-day tournament is being held at the Streamsong Resort (Blue Course) in Bowling Green, Fla.

The championship consists of 10 institutions: Butler, Connecticut, Creighton, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, St. John's, Seton Hall, Villanova and Xavier.

The last BIG EAST golf championships were held in 2019. Marquette is the defending men's champion.

• Xavier competed at the Mountaineer Invitational on April 12-13 in Bridgeport, W.Va. The Musketeers recorded a 54-hole total of 907 (+43) to rank seventh in the team standings out of 13 teams.

• Michael Prebles led the Musketeers, placing tied for 19th at the event. He posted a 54-hole total of 225 (+9).

NOTABLES

• Xavier ranks ninth in the BIG EAST in scoring averages this season, posting an average score of 304.33. The Musketeers posted their best round of the season in their final round of the Mountaineer Invitational (289).

• Ben Pirro ranks 34th in the BIG EAST standings with an average score of 76.11 this season. Michael Prebles ranks 35th with an average score of 76.33.

• The Musketeers finished seventh at the 2019 BIG EAST Championships, posting a scored of 912 (+48).

• Xavier returns three golfers who participated in the 2019 BIG EAST Championships: Imaad Qureshi (21st), Martin Jaramillo (t-24th) and Michael Prebles (45th).

• The winner of the BIG EAST Championships earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The six NCAA Regionals will be played on May 17-19 at the following locations: Noblesville, Ind., Tallahassee, Fla., Albuquerque, N.M., Stillwater, Okla., Kingston Springs, Tenn., Cle Elum, Wash.
