Musketeers close out regular season on Sunday against DePaul

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer fell, 1-0, to Marquette on Thursday afternoon after an early second half goal for the Golden Eagles. Xavier held an 8-4 advantage on shots but were unable to find the equalizer, moving to 3-6 overall and 2-4 in BIG EAST play.

Xavier took a 4-2 advantage on shots into the break, with neither team breaking through for a score in the first half. Less than 10 minutes into the second half, a cross from Marquette snuck inside the far post to put the Golden Eagles ahead. Xavier held a 4-1 advantage on shots the rest of the way but fell, 1-0.

The Musketeers wrap up the regular season on Sunday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m., hosting DePaul. The Musketeers will celebrate Senior Day prior to the match.

SCORING RECAP

51' | MARQUETTE | MU's Hailey Block passed to Josie Kelderman on the right side of the box and Kelderman tapped it back to Block deep on the right side of the box. Block sent the ball towards the goal, sneaking it inside the left post to make it 1-0, MU.

NOTABLE

Molly McLaughlin played the full 90 minutes in the midfield for the Musketeers, who were shorthanded, leading Xavier with three shots, including a pair on-goal.
Gabrielle LoPresti had a pair of shots with one on-frame.
Olivia Lawson also had a look on-goal.
Xavier held a 8-4 advantage on shots, with both having four looks on frame.
Marquette earned four corner kicks to two for Xavier.
Olivia Jenkins played the full time in-goal for Xavier, collecting three saves with one goal-against.
Grace Brauer and Hayley Jakovich played the full 90 as part of Xavier's defense.
