Major Cintas Center Tech Upgrades Include Big HD Videoboard

The upgrades will also have a major impact on broadcast streams in multiple sports
CINCINNATI --- Xavier University Athletics announced a $3.0-million dollar technology upgrade to Cintas Center that will take the in-game fan and visitor experience and Xavier's streaming capabilities to a significantly higher level. The tech improvement project includes a new center-hung scoreboard that will be 2.5 times the size of the current one with HD video display, upgraded fascia ribbon display, new graphics systems and HD cameras. These improvements will also have a major impact on the quality of Xavier broadcast streams in multiple sports.
"The technology investment in Cintas Center is a game-changer for the fan engagement and experience for our athletic events," said Xavier University Associate Athletics Director for External Relations Brian Hicks, "but also impacts every University function, high school and college graduation and all other events that visit the arena.
"These improvements help us maintain our spot as one of the nation's best on-campus arenas for the fans, the student-athletes, sponsors and all visitors. The positive impact on the basketball and volleyball game experience will be clear to our fans. I'm also excited about the impact this technology will have on our soccer and baseball teams."
The technology upgrade project will be funded through private gifts and revenue from Xavier's multimedia partnership with Learfield IMG College.
The new scoreboard, which is supplied by ANC, is the third generation Cintas Center scoreboard and a major upgrade from the last scoreboard that was installed in 2010. The main display will be 1920x1080 pixels natively at a 4mm pixel pitch, making it a true 1080 HD display. The new compliment of HD broadcast-quality cameras as well as a suite of hardware from Ross Video, including a new high-end suite of graphics systems, will give those in-arena a spectacular new experience via the center-hung display.
The upgraded fascia ribbon display around the arena will allow for clearer game in-progress information along with improved sponsor exposure and fan engagement.
The better cameras mean better resolution and better replays of key in-game video for in-person and broadcast streaming. The new graphics systems will drive both the in-arena displays and all of Xavier's streaming video efforts both in Cintas Center and across campus at soccer and baseball. In short, the Ross Xpression & Tessera graphics platforms in-arena will allow Xavier to have broadcast quality graphics and statistics on every screen in the building and take XU's broadcast streams to another level.
