Morgan Tinsley and Alex Sironen Named BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athletes for 2020-21

NEW YORK - Xavier women's golf's Morgan Tinsley and Xavier men's swimming's Alex Sironen were named Xavier's BIG EAST Institutional Scholar-Athletes of the Year for the 2020-21 academic year.
Each BIG EAST member institution has a male and female winner, with each winning $2,000 toward graduate studies.

Morgan Tinsley captured the individual title at the 2021 BIG EAST Championships during her senior season in 2020-21, posting a score of 221 (+5) - the first tournament title of her career. The Louisville, Ky., native helped the Musketeers win their second straight BIG EAST Championship and advance to the NCAA Louisville Regional.

Tinsley finished tied for 78th at the NCAA Louisville Regional as the Musketeers placed 17th, respectively.Â
Tinsley graduated in the spring of 2021 with a degree in accounting and finance.

Alex Sironen collected six medals at the 2021 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships, helping the Musketeers claim a third-straight team title. Sironen collected the individual gold medal in the 200 back, his first individual event championship as a Musketeer, and placed third in the 100 fly.
The Centennial, Colo., native also took part in four relays, collecting first-place finishes as part of the 200 free relay, the 400 free relay and the 400 medley relay, and placing second as part of the 200 medley relay.
Sironen graduated in spring of 2021 with a degree in exercise science.
