Women placed second, men finished third at two-day meet

AKRON, Ohio – Xavier swimming wrapped up the Akron Zips Classic on Saturday at Ocasek Nataorium in Akron, Ohio, collecting five first-place finishes as the women placed second and the men finished third.

Xavier is back in action on Friday, Oct. 24, when the Musketeers take on NKU, set for a 5:00 p.m. start at the Kenton County Aquatic Center in Taylor Mill, Ky. The Musketeers return to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 25, traveling to Denison to take on the Big Red at 1:00 p.m. at the Trumbull Aquatic Center in Granville, Ohio.

WOMEN's NOTABLE

Norah Simich, Maddy Lathrop, Abbey Fish and Olivia Oyster opened up the morning session with a time of 1:34.87 in the 200 free relay.
Ava Tenhundfeld placed third in the 400 IM with a time of 4:30.49.
Norah Simich led Xavier in the 100 fly with a time of 55.32.
Olivia Oyster placed second in the 200 free with a time of 1:51.64. Abby Bocian placed third, finishing in a time of 1:52.34.
Jordyn Libler set a time of 1:01.51 in the 100 breast, placing second.
Abby Bocian led Xavier in the 100 back with a time of 56.37.
The Musketeer women were in second place with 463 points after the morning session.
Abby Bocian, Jordyn Libler, Norah Simich and Olivia Oyster set a time of 1:42.36 in the 200 medley relay, placing second to open the evening session.
Teegan Madara led Xavier in the mile, setting a time of 17:16.00.
Emma Tenhundfeld led the Musketeers in the 200 back, setting a time of 2:04.29.
Olivia Oyster won the 100 free with a time of 49.91.
Jordyn Libler took first in the 200 breast with a time of 2:16.15.
Norah Simich placed first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.11.
Abbey Fish, Maddy Lathrop, Norah Simich and Olivia Oyster set a time of 3:29.20 in the 400 free relay to close out the meet
Xavier finished with 777 points, placing second in the team standings, trailling Akron, but topping Cleveland State, Youngstown State and Denison.

MEN'S NOTABLE

Sean McGinley, Matthew Adanin, Matt Fralic and Kyle Hudson opened up the morning session with a time of 1:22.34 in the 200 free relay, placing third.
Ethan Leamer led the Musketeers in the 400 IM with a time of 4:08.05.
Aiden Leamer took first in the 100 fly with a time of 48.42. Matt Fralic set a time of 49.25 to place second.
Kyle Hudson placed third in the 200 free with a time of 1:40.16.
Brayden Mandacina's time of 57.47 led the Musketeers in the 100 breast.
Matt Fralic took second in the 100 back with a time of 49.53.
Xavier's men stood in third place with 447.5 points after the morning session.
Matt Fralic, Brayden Mandacina, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson set a time of 1:30.13 in the 200 medley relay, placing third.
Ethan Leamer placed third in the mile, setting a time of 15:55.42.
Matt Fralic set a time of of 1:51.28 in the 200 back to lead the Musketeers.
Kyle Hudson's time of 45.63 led Xavier in the 100 free.
Brayden Mandacina led Xavier in the 200 breast with a time of 2:06.62.
Aiden Leamer took the top spot in the 200 fly with a time of 1:48.13.
Sean McGinley, Aiden Leamer, Matt Fralic and Kyle Hudson closed out the meet with a time of 3:00.66 in the 400 free relay, placing third.
The Musketeer men finished third with 762.5 points, trailing Cleveland State and Youngstown State, but topping Denison.
