Delaney Hogan posted a career-high 18 kills on Thursday Night

CINCINNATI - Xavier dropped a four-set match (25-27, 28-26, 16-25, 18-25) at crosstown rival Cincinnati on Thursday night at Fifth Third Arena.

Xavier moved to 4-5 on the year, while the Bearcats improved to 4-3.

NOTABLES

• Sophomore Delaney Hogan led the Musketeers with a career-high 18 kills. The middle blocker added a .438 hitting percentage and one block.

• Ellie Chaffee added eight kills and a team-high four blocks. MaryAnn O'Toole chipped in seven kills and 10 digs.

• Stevie Wolf led four Musketeers with double-figure digs with a team-high 12 digs. Carrigan O'Reilly and Alyssa Overbeck both chipped in 10 digs.

• Carrigan O'Reilly added a match-high 42 assists. The setter also had four kills and two blocks.

• The Bearcats held a 9-0 advantage in aces and had three more total team blocks (10-7) than the Musketeers. Cincinnati posted a .209 hitting percentage, while limiting Xavier to a .172 clip.

• The opening two sets went into extra points with each frame having 13 ties and five lead changes.

• Xavier returns to action on Friday, Sept. 17 vs Miami (Ohio). First serve is set for 6 p.m. from Cintas Center.
