Andrew Martin Named BIG EAST Swimming Athlete of the Week

Martin picked up five event wins through two meets in the team's return to action for the spring semester. At Cincinnati, Martin picked up the only event win on the men's side, taking first in the 1000 free with a time of 9:28.03. Martin also led Xavier in the 100 free, placing second with a time of 46.21.
Against Bellarmine, Martin picked up four move event wins, including a pair of individual events. He used a time of 1:42.97 in the 200 free to take first and also took first in the 500 free with a time of 4:41.32.
Martin, who is originally from Middleton, Wis., was also a part of both winning relay squads against Bellarmine, swimming the freestyle leg of the 200 medley relay that finished in 1:33.57, and taking the third leg of the 400 free relay that finished in 3:09.33.
This is Martin's second weekly award of the season, also picking up the honor the week of October 26.
Kali Fischer, a sophomore from Eagan, Minn., was listed among the BIG EAST's notable performances after winning six events across two meets over the weekend for Xavier. The sophomore won the 200 back against UC with a time 2:03.29. She also took second and swam a personal best time of 24.10 in the 50 free in the meet against Cincinnati. Fischer helped the Musketeers win both the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay against the Bearcats.
Against Bellarmine, Fischer took first in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.66, and helped Xavier to wins in the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay.
