Nia Clark led the Musketeers with 11 points vs the Wildcats
VILLANOVA, Pa. - Xavier women's basketball dropped an 82-57 BIG EAST contest at Villanova on Sunday afternoon. The Musketeers moved to 7-12 (2-8 BIG EAST) on the yar, while the Wildcats improved to 13-6 (7-3 BIG EAST).
• Villanova opened the game on a 13-4 run behind a .556 field-goal percentage (5-for-9), forcing a Xavier timeout at the 5:22 mark. Xavier outscored the Wildcats, 5-4, to close the opening quarter - making the score, 17-9. Shaila Beeler paced Xavier with five points.
• Villanova outscored Xavier, 22-10, in the second frame - taking a 39-19 advantage into the locker room. The Wildcats hit 43.3 percent (13-for-30) of their shot attempts in the first half, while Xavier was limited to a .269 field-goal percentage (7-for-26).
• Shaila Beeler led Xavier with five points in the first half, while Shelby Calhoun pulled down a team-high five rebounds.
• Villanova held a 21-18 advantage on the glass and scored 10 more points off of turnovers (12-2) than the Musketeers.
• Both teams came of the locker room with strong shooting performances as Xavier hit 70 percent (7-for-10) of its shot attempts through the quarter's first six minutes, while the Wildcats went 6-for-8 from the floor (75 percent). Villanova led Xavier, 55-33, at the media timeout (4:11).
