Dancer, McLaughlin score; Musketeer defense get seventh shutout of the season

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer earned a sixth-straight win, moving to 4-0 in BIG EAST play, after topping Seton Hall 2-0 at Corcoran Field on Sunday afternoon. The Musketeers move to 10-2-1 overall on the season.

Xavier took a one-goal lead into halftime after Emma Flick crossed to Regan Dancer for the eventual game-winning goal. Molly McLaughlin added an insurance goal in the second half on a penalty kick to give the Musketeers the two goal advantage. The XU defense picked up a second-straight shutout, its seventh of the season, limiting the Pirates to just four shots overall and only three on-frame.

The Musketeers now head to Georgetown to face the No. 19 Hoyas on Thursday, October 6, set for a 3:00 p.m. start.

NOTABLE

Regan Dancer's first half goal was her second of the season, both game-winners. She now has five points on two goals and an assist.
Molly McLaughlin scored her team-high fourth goal of the season on the penalty kick, making her 3-3 on PKs for the season and 6-6 for her Xavier career. She has a team-high 10 points on four goals and two assists.
Emma Flick picked up an assist on Dancer's game-winner, her second of the season. She now has eight points on three goals and two assist for her rookie campaign.
Xavier finished with a 29-4 advantage on shots and a 16-3 advantage on shots on-goal. McLaughlin's five shots led Xavier and Dancer and Chloe Netzel each had four.
The Musketeer defense picked up its second straight shutout, and seventh overall. Xavier did not allow a SHU shot in the first half. Maddie Reed and Natalie Bain anchored the backline, playing the full 90 minutes.
Maria Galley picked up her 10th win and seventh clean sheet in-goal, collecting three saves.
