Xavier Moves to 3-0, Tops Saint Francis on Sunday Night

Senior forward Courtney Prenger posted her first career double-double vs the Red Flash
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball moved to 3-0 on the year on Sunday night, defeating Saint Francis, 78-52, at Cintas Center. The Red Flash dropped to 0-3 on the year.
The Musketeers have won three straight games to start the year for the first time since the 2020-21 season.
The Red Flash led by as many as nine points (21-12) with 8:29 left in the first half before the Musketeers roared back with a 25-8 run to close the half, taking a 37-29 lead into the locker room. Mackayla Scarlett scored 14 points during the run as the Musketeers were 9-for-18 from the floor (5-for-7 from behind the arc).
Xavier never relinquished the lead and led by as many as 29 points (65-36) with 43 seconds left in the third quarter.
• Five Musketeers scored in double figures: Mackayla Scarlett (15), Fernanda Ovalle (11), Aanaya Harris (10), Courtney Prenger (10) and Taylor Smith (10). It was the first time Xavier had five players in double figures since Feb. 20, 2022 at Butler.
• Courtney Prenger added a team-high 11 rebounds as the senior forward posted her first career double-double. The 11 rebounds matched her career high in the stat category. She added a career-high four blocks to go along with three assist and one steal. The Minster, Ohio, native was 5-for-6 from the floor.
• Xavier hit 10 three pointers (10-for-24), the first time the Musketeers have made 10 or more three pointers since Jan. 10, 2020 (went 13-for-20 from behind the arc at Georgetown).
• Xavier had an assist on 23 of its 31 made baskets. The last time the Musketeers dished out 23 or more assists was on Feb. 20, 2022 at Butler (23 assists on 33 made shots).
• Xavier had 19 steals in the game, ranking tied for 10th in single-season school history. The last time Xavier had 19 or more assists was on Nov. 25, 2020 at Detroit Mercy (22 steals). Mackayla Scarlett had a team-high four steals.
• The Musketeers hit 43.1 percent (31-for-72) of their shot attempts and was 6-for-10 from the foul line. Xavier held a 29-5 advantage in points off of turnovers and scored 21 more fastbreak points (22-1). Xavier also scored nine more second-chance points (16-7).
• The Musketeers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 19 vs Old Dominion. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. from Cintas Center.
