CINCINNATI - Xavier indoor track and field wraps up regular-season action on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Al Campbell Invitational hosted by Akron. The meet is slated to begin at 7 p.m. ET from the Stile Athletics Field House.

LAST TIME OUT

• Xavier track and field posted 17 top-10 finishes at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic on Feb. 5. The meet was hosted at Norton Health Care Sports and Learning Center in Louisville, Ky.

• The meet was highlighted by three third-place finishes. Emily Sienna placed third in the 3,000-meter run (9:47.34) and Sean Beam took third in the 400-meter dash (50.45). The men's 4x400 team also placed third, posting a time of 3:27.65.

2021 AL CAMPBELL INVITE

• Xavier competed at the Al Campbell Invitational last season on Feb. 19, 2021. The Musketeers had six top-five finishes at the meet, highlighted by Courtney Klatt's first-place finish in the 3,000-meter run (10:01.03).

NOTABLES

• Xavier competed in six meets during the COVID-19 shortened 2020-21 season.

• The Musketeers had seven student-athletes post career-best finishes at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 14-15. The conference did not hold an indoor championship meet.

• The highlight of the BIG EAST Championships was the 4x800 relay team (Hannah Russell, Parker Hopkins, Abby Fioresi and Robyn Blackwell) breaking the school record in the event, posting a time of 9:04.59.

COACH BURROUGHS

• Sam Burroughs was named the new head coach for cross country/track and field on Jan. 4, 2021. He joined the Musketeers after previously working as associate head coach at Cincinnati from 2013-20.

• Burroughs has over 20 years of collegiate experience. He has coached 96 individual conference champions and 45 individual NCAA qualifiers, while leading 18 teams to conference championship titles.

LAUREN ETHERIDGE

• Lauren Etheridge was named assistant coach for the cross country and track and field programs in August of 2021. She was previously the head cross country coach at USC Aiken from 2019-21.

• In the spring of 2021, she guided the women's cross country team to an eighth-place finish at the Peach Belt Conference Championships – the team's highest finish since 2011. She restarted the program in 2019 after a one-year hiatus (the women did not have a team in 2018).
