CINCINNATIΒ - Xavier women's basketball dropped a 54-40 BIG EAST matchup vs Georgetown on Friday night at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers moved to 9-18 (4-14 BIG EAST), while the Hoyas improved to 8-18 (3-15 BIG EAST).

β’ The first half was back-and-forth as it featured five lead changes and two ties. Neither team led by more than twoΒ possessions.
β’ Tied at 18 with 2:03 left in the half, Shelby Calhoun knocked down a three pointer to give Xavier what would be its final lead of the game. Georgetown finished the half on a 5-0 run, taking a 23-21 advantage into the locker room.
β’ Shelby Calhoun and Ayanna Townsend each had six points in the first half, while Townsend added a team-high four rebounds. The Hoyas held a 22-20 advantage on the glass.

β’ Georgetown outscored the Musketeers, 16-8, in the third quarter - taking the first double-figure lead of the game for either team, 39-29. Xavier was limited to one field goal (1-for-13) in the frame, while going 5-for-8 from the foul line.
β’ The Hoyas outscored Xavier by four points (15-11) in the final quarter, pulling away for the 54-40 victory. Georgetown's defense limited the Musketeers to only five baskets (5-for-26) in the second half.
