Swimming Faces Miami (Ohio) in Final Meet Before BIG EAST Championships

Meet with Redhawks set for Saturday at 1 PM
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming close out the regular season with a dual meet at Miami (Ohio), set for Saturday, February 5 at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center at 1:00 p.m.
Following the meet with Miami, Xavier begins final preparations for the BIG EAST Championships, set to get underway on February 23 in East Meadow, N.Y.

 BUTLER INVITE |
- Miami has dual wins over Cleveland State, Ball State and Kenyon on the men's side and Cleveland State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Kenyon on the women's side.
- The RedHawk men are coming off MAC Championship in 2021, while the women finished third at the conference meet.
- Xavier faced Miami in February 2021, with the men and women combining to win five events with both teams falling in the final team score.Â
- Kali Fischer and Andrew Martin each collected two individual event wins at the meet.

- Xavier's men took first out of four teams at the Butler Invite last weekend.
- Ben Quon, Ethan Saunders, Christian Thomas and Andrew Martin opened the meet for the Xavier men with a time of 1:33.00 in the 200 medley relay to place third.
- Adam Lamping finished second in the mile with a time of 16:38.78.
- Andrew Martin took the top spot in the 200 free with a time of 1:40.85, and won the 500 free with a time of 4:28.15
- Ben Quon won the 200 back with a time of 1:52.00. Quon also led Xavier in the 100 back, placing third with a time of 51.37.
- Jon Bernard took the top spot in the 200 breast with a time of 2:04.80, and in the 200 IM, finishing in 1:55.14. Bernard also set the top time by a Musketeer in the 100 breast, finishing in 57.46.
- Jack Parker's time of 1:54.97 in the 200 fly led Xavier and was good for second place.
- Gage Hannewyk set the top time by a Musketeer in the 50 free, finishing in 21.62
- Ethan Wing led Xavier in the 100 free with a time of 47.53.
- Caleb Petranchuk led Xavier in the 100 fly with a time of 52.82
- Xavier's men closed out the meet with a second-place finish for Christian Thomas, Gage Hannewyk, Ethan Wing and Andrew Martin in the 400 free relay, finishing in 3:03.81.
- Xavier's men won the meet with a total of 780 points, outpacing UIndy's 747 points.

- Xavier's women took the top spot out of five teams at last weekend's Butler Invite.
- Brooke Atkins, Lydia Schaeffer, Hannah Pugh and Kali Fischer finished the 200 medley relay in 1:46.29 to place second to lead off the meet.
- Erin Ritz'Â time of 18:12.12 led Xavier in the mile, finishing second.
- Alexis Worrall won the 200 free with a time of 1:53.57, leading three Musketeers in the top three. Clare Bosse finished second and Clara Keiser placed third.
- Worrall also led Xavier with a second place finish in the 100 free with a time of 52.87, and in the 50 free with a time of 24.64
- Kali Fischer took the top post in the 200 back, with a time of 2:02.79. Hannah Pugh placed second and Brooke Atkins finished third.
- Fischer also led Xavier in the 100 back with a time of 56.66, placing second, and in the 200 IM, collecting another second place finish with a time of 2:05.66
- Lydia Schaeffer's third place finish in the 100 breast, finishing in 1:06.88 led the Musketeers.
- Sophia Romero placed third in the 200 fly with a time of 2:09.12, the top finish from Xavier. Romero also led Xavier in the 100 fly with a time of 58.28.
- Kelly Harris set the top time by a Musketeer in the 200 breast, placing third with a time of 2:25.50.Â
- Clara Keiser and Mary Sweetman finished first and second in the 500 free, respectively. Keiser won the race with a time of 5:14.73.
- Alexi Worrall, Clara Keiser, Molly Dynda and Mary Sweetman closed out the meet for the women with a second place finish in the 400 free relay, setting a time of 3:34.59.
- Xavier collected 824 points, taking first and topping second-place UIndy by over 100 points.

- The Musketeer men are looking for a four-peat in the BIG EAST after winning their third-straight BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championship in Spring 2021.
- Xavier collected 11 event championships and had all-conference finishes in 17 events, eventually winning by over 170 points over second-place Villanova. Xavier won 11 of 18 racing events, including four of five relays.
- Returners Andrew Martin and Christian Thomas each won three individual gold medals. Following the meet, Andrew Martin was named Most Outstanding swimmer on the men's side.
- All-BIG EAST honorees Jon Bernard, Andrew Devine, Davis Klein, Roark Lundal, Joey Mullen, Jack Parker, Ben Quon, Cameron Weese, Brett Wilson and Ethan Wing also return for the Musketeers.
- Xavier added a sophomore transfer from Michigan State in Michael Benington, as well as a freshman class of Gage Hannewyk, Adam Lamping, Caleb Petranchuk, Ethan Saunders and Nathan Wall.

- The Musketeer women return seven who earned All-Conference honors for last season's third-place finishing team at the BIG EAST meet.
- Â Among the returners are Brooke Atkins and Kali Fischer who were part of the BIG EAST Championship winning 200 medley relay.Â
- Lydia Schaeffer, Clara Keiser, Emma Swabb, Erin Merke and Julianne Libler also picked up all-conference honors.
- Xavier's women added a six-person freshman class in Maddie Agans, Kiara Anchrum, Molly Dynda, Mary Sweetman, Reese Turner, Amy Van Son and Alexis Worrall.
