Jack Lynch Named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week

Jack Housinger named to the conference's weekly honor roll as well
NEW YORK - After making an appearance in each of Xavier's three wins last week, junior left handed pitcher Jack Lynch was named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday. Senior shortstop Jack Housinger also earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll.
Lynch, originally from Dallas, Texas, pitched a total of 6.2 innings in those three appearances, allowing just two hits and no runs for an 0.00 ERA for the the week, striking out nine along the way. Lynch pitched 2.2 innings against Michigan, allowing just one hit and striking out three in the 8-2 Xavier win. He followed that up with 1.0 innings of hitless baseball in the 8-7 win at Cincinnati, striking out a pair. The lefty then went 3.0 innings in the 8-7 win over the Bearcats, allowing one hit, striking out four and picking up the win, his second of the season.
Senior shortstop Jack Housinger was also honored by the conference, earning a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Housinger collected four hits during Xavier's three-win week, including a pair of home runs to help fuel the Musketeers to two wins over Cincinnati. Housinger's two-run homer in the top of the ninth Friday's eventual 8-7 win over the Bearcats proved to be crucial when Cincinnati posted three runs in the bottom of the frame. Housinger followed that up with a grand slam in the second inning of Sunday's game with UC, pulling the Musketeers even at 5-5 in a game they eventually won, 8-7.
