Senior infielder collected nine RBI on four homers last week; Freshman right-hander went season-long 7.1 innings at Upstate
NEW YORK - Following Xavier's first series win at USC Upstate last weekend, a pair of Musketeers, Luke Franzoni and George Eisenhardt, earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced on Monday.
Franzoni, a senior infielder, batted .333 through four games last week, matching for the best average among Xavier's regular players. Among his five hits were four home runs finishing the week with a 1.133 slugging percentage. Franzoni drove in a team-high nine RBI, including three in Xavier's 9-7 win in on Saturday, the Musketeers' first win of the season.
Eisenhardt, a freshman right-handed pitcher, made his third start on Sunday against USC Upstate, going a season-long 7.1 innings, allowing four runs, just three earned, on eight hits with a season-low two walks. He finished with a season-best five strikeouts and picked up his first win as a Musketeer as Xavier won 7-4 to take two of three in the series with the Spartans.
Xavier is back in action on Tuesday, playing South Carolina at 7:00 p.m. in Columbia, S.C.
