Freshman goalkeeper collected six saves for two shutouts during opening weekend
NEW YORK - Following a pair of shutout performances in goal over the weekend, freshman goalkeeper Maria Galley was named to the first BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the 2022 season, the league office announced on Monday.
Galley, originally from South Windsor, Conn., played the full 90 minutes in both of Xavier's matches last weekend, collecting six saves for a pair of shutouts and a 1-0-1 record. In Xavier's 1-0 win over WKU, Galley collected four saves to keep the Hilltoppers off the board in her collegiate debut. She followed that up with a pair of saves against Ohio to help Xavier stay undefeated with a scoreless draw.
Xavier returns to action on Thursday when the Musketeers travel to Louisville to face the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m.
