Musketeers sweep opening weekend play in the Buffalo Tournament

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Musketeers participated in 15 sets of intense play over the course of the two day tournament. Xavier took the final match against Buffalo 3-2 (19-25, 25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 15-5). This is the first time since the 2017 season that the Musketeers have had such a strong start. Xavier wraps the first week of play with a 3-0 record.

NOTABLES

• Sophomore outside hitter Emma Grace and senior outside hitter Brooklyn Cink shared the team high of 16 kills apiece in the victory.

• Cink also led the squad in blocks racking up two block assists while Grace was the only member of the squad to record a block solo.

• Junior libero Stevie Wolf tallied up 22 digs for the Musketeers over the course of the five sets.

• Senior setter Carrigan O'Reilly added another 24 assists to her 2,273 to raise her career total to 2,297.

• Junior middle blocker Hunter Fry achieved the team high hitting percentage of .667 when she recorded four kills on six attempts.

• The squad achieved a 100 percent attack by set percentage in the final set of the contest.

• Xavier lengthens the lead in the all-time series with Buffalo to 3-0.

• The Musketeers return to action when they play host to Eastern Michigan, Purdue Fort Wayne, and Virginia in the Xavier Tournament.
