Swimming Heads to Louisville for First Dual of 2022-23

Musketeers face off with the Cardinals on Friday, September 30 at 3 PM
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming will travel to Louisville to compete in the first dual meet of the season, facing the Cardinals on Friday, September 30 at the Ralph Wright Natatorium. Events are scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
The meet with the Cardinals will be live streamed through the ACC Network Extra on the WatchESPN platform.

OPPONENT NOTES |
- The meet with the Musketeers is UofL's first competition of the season.
- Last season the Louisville men took second at the ACC Championships, then moved on to place 12th at the NCAA Championships.
- ACC Swimmer of the Year, Nicolas Albiero finished third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:38.88 in last year's national championships.
- The Cardinal women placed third at the conference meet, following that with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Championships.
- Gabi Albiero earned five All-American Honors and two honorable mention All-American honors last season. She amassed 35.5 points in the NCAA Championship meet.
- The Musketeers last faced the Cardinals in October 2021, with the women falling 179-78 and the men falling 179-78.

LAST TIME OUT - MEN |
- At the Butler Quad, Xavier's men won eight events on the way to a sweep of the four men's squads, with wins over wins over Bellarmine (150-51), Saint Louis (132-69), Eastern Illinois (154-46) and IUPUI (121-79).
- Jon Bernard, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Gage Hannewyk opened the meet for the Xavier men with a win in the 200 medley relay, setting a time of 1:33.18.
- Andrew Martin won a pair of individual event wins, taking first in the 1000 free (9:35.77), and the 500 free (4:37.76).
- Kyle Hudson took first in the 200 free, winning the event with a time of 1:43.47.
- Ethan Saunders' time of 21.81 led Xavier in the 50 free.
- Jon Bernard won the 200 IM with a time of 1:53.09. Bernard also led the Musketeers in the 200 breast, finishing second with a time of 2:02.47.
- Aiden Leamer took first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:51.96.
- Kyle Hudson and Ethan Wing tied for the win in the 100 free with a time of 47.16. Gage Hannewyk took third.
- Michael Benington placed third in the 200 back with a time of 1:54.58.
- Xavier took the top two spots in the final race, the 400 free relay, with Ethan Saunders, Kyle Hudson, Gage Hannewyk and Andrew Martin winning with a time of 3:06.63.

- At the Butler Quad, the Musketeer women won seven events on the way to sweeping the head-to-head standings. Xavier finished the day 5-0 with wins over Bellarmine (152-49), Butler (151-50), Eastern Illinois (147.50-52.50), Saint Louis (124-77) and IUPUI (125-76)
- Xavier took three of the top four spots in the 200 medley relay, led by a time of 1:46.45 for Kali Fischer, Julianne Libler, Hannah Pugh and Olivia Oyster to place fourth
- Sydney Smith led Xavier in the 1000 free with a time of 10:55.17, finishing third. Smith also led Xavier in the 500 free with a time of 5:20.68.
- Charlie Ramey won the 200 free with a time of 1:55.40. Clara Keiser finished second and Alexis Worrall finished third.
- Olivia Oyster took the top spot in the 50 free with a time of 24.29. Molly Dynda placed second.
- Hannah Pugh won the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.71. Kate Lair took third.
- Sophia Romero led Xavier in the 200 fly with a time of 2:13.04.
- Clare Bosse won the 100 free with a time of 52.97.
- Kali Fischer took first in the 200 back with a time of 2:02.94. Hannah Pugh placed second.
- Kate Lair led the Musketeers with a second-place finish in the 200 breast, setting a time of 2:28.20.
- Alexis Worrall, Kali Fischer, Olivia Oyster and Clare Bosse closed out the meet with a win in the 400 free relay setting a time of 3:30.56.

- The Musketeer men are coming off a second-place finish at last season's BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships. Xavier collected six event championships and had 10 Musketeers earn all-conference last season.
- Nine of the 10 All-BIG EAST honorees return for the 2022-23 season. Andrew Martin earned the honor in six events and Ethan Saunders earned the honor in five events.
- Jon Bernard, Gage Hannewyk, Joey Mullen, Jack Parker, Will Serad, Nathan Wall and Ethan Wing all earned All-BIG EAST last season.
- The Musketeers added three transfers, T'Lez Foulkes from Howard, Seth Kibler from Florida Institute of Technology and Aiden Neuman from Penn State.
- Xavier also added a five person class of newcomers, Matthew Adanin, Ben Dupree, Kyle Hudson, Aiden Leamer and Jonathan Mason.

- The Musketeer women return nine All-Conference performers from last season's third-place finishing team at the BIG EAST meet.
- Among the returners is Kali Fischer who earned All-BIG EAST in five events. Alexis Worrall and Clara Keiser also earned all-conference in multiple events.
- Molly Dynda, Erin Merke, Erin Ritz, Emma Swabb and Reese Turner all earned All-BIG EAST last season as well
- Xavier's women added four to the roster for the season, transfer Charlie Ramey who joins Xavier from Vermont, and freshmen Emma Amon, Olivia Oyster and Sydney Smith.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE |
- The Musketeers are next in action at the Akron Zips Classic, running from Oct. 7-8.
- Last season, the two-day meet included Akron and Denison in addition to the Zips and the Musketeers.
- At last season's meet, Xavier collected a pair of third-place finishes with 535.5 points on the women's side and 805 on the men's side.
