CINCINNATI - Xavier cross country continues its season at the Friar Invitational on Friday, Sept. 9. The meet is being hosted by Providence at the Mark Coogan Course at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass.

The women's race is set for 3:15 p.m., while the men's race is scheduled for 4 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

• Xavier opened the 2022 season by winning both the men's and women's races at the Queen City Invitational on Sept. 2. The meet was held at the Valhalla Course on Northern Kentucky's campus.

• The Xavier women have now won the Queen City Invitational four times (2022, 2019, 2015, 2013). The Xavier men won the Queen City Invitational for the first time since 2010 (third overall; 2022, 2010, 2009).

• Grace Zdankiewicz led the women with a second-place finish with a 5K time of 20:00.80. The Xavier men were paced by Julian Vargas who placed third in the 5K race with a time of 16:26.70.

NOTABLES

• In women's cross country, Xavier returns three of its top-five finishers from a team that placed seventh at the 2021 BIG EAST Championships (Fall Season): Parker Hopkins (44th - 23:08.80), Emily Sienna (49th - 23:27.30) and Sarah Been (53rd - 23:44.10).

• In men's cross country, Xavier returns two of its top-five finishers from a team that placed seventh at the 2021 BIG EAST Championships (Fall Season): Adrian Stuphan (38th - 26:37.00) and Trevor Nolan (50th - 27:11.10).
