Blackford Posts Double-Double in Loss to Hoyas

The senior forward had 10 points and a game-high 14 rebounds on Tuesday night
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball dropped a 44-41 BIG EAST contest vs Georgetown on Tuesday night at Cintas Center. The Musketeers fall to 7-15 (0-13 BIG EAST), while the Hoyas improve ot 12-10 (5-8 BIG EAST).
The game featured five ties and nine lead changes. For the second time in as many games, the Musketeers took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter (34-33) - but the Hoyas outscored Xavier, 11-7, in the final frame to escape Cintas Cener with a three-point win.
Kelsey Ransom made the first of two free throw attempts with 14 seconds left in regulation to give the Hoyas the 44-41 lead. Following the missed free throw on the second attempt, the Musketeers raced up the floor and attempted a three pointer that fell short of sending the game to overtime.

• Nila Blackford posted her first double-double of the season with a team-high 11 points and 14 rebounds. The senior forward now has 23 career double-doubles. She added two steals and one assist.
• Aanaya Harris finished with 11 points and a team-high four assists. The sophomore added two rebounds and was 6-for-9 from the foul line.
• Kaysia Woods finished with six points, while Taylor Smith added five points and three steals. Courtney Prenger chipped in four rebounds and two points.Â
• Xavier finished the game a .295 field-goal percentage (13-for-44) and went 5-for-13 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 10-for-13 from the foul line.
• Xavier limited the Hoyas to a .278 field-goal percentage (15-for-54), the team's second-lowest percentage of the season. Georgetown was also 4-for-23 from behind the arc and 10-for-18 from the foul line.
• Xavier held a 16-14 advantage in points off of turnovers and scored four more second-chance points (9-5). The Musketeers also held a 22-20 advantage in bench points and scored four more fastbreak points (16-12).

• The Musketeers return to action on Saturday, Feb. 4 at DePaul. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m. ET from Wintrust Arena.
