Olivia Oyster Named BIG EAST Swimming Athlete of the Week

NEW YORK - Xavier swimming's Olivia Oyster earned BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honors after sweeping the freestyle sprints with BIG EAST leading times during Xavier's dual at Denison on Saturday. Kyle Hudson was also recognized as a notable performer.
Oyster, a sophomore from Delaware, Ohio, set a time of 23.38 in the 50 free to lead the field against the Big Red, marking the top time posted by a BIG EAST competitor so far this season. She followed that up with another BIG EAST-leading time of 51.53 in the 100 free to pick up her second individual first-place finish of the day.
In the relays, Oyster helped the Xavier A-squad to a first and second place finish, swimming the anchor leg of the 400 free relay in 51.02 to help Xavier to a time of 3:29.75 and a first place finish. She also swam the free leg of the 200 medley relay in a time of 23.25 to help Xavier place second with a time of 1:45.63.
Hudson, a sophomore from Napoleon, Ohio, collected a pair of individual wins and helped Xavier to a pair of relay wins as Xavier's men topped Denison in a dual on Saturday. Hudson set a time of 46.89 in the 100 free to take the top spot, then also claimed the win in the 200 free with a time of 1:42.91.
In the 200 medley relay to lead off the meet, Hudson swam the free leg in a time of 21.10 to help Xavier to a 1:33.63 finish, placing first, and then to wrap up the meet, Hudson swam the lead-off leg of the 400 free relay, posting a 46.65 split to help Xavier finish first with a time of 3:06.96.
Xavier will be in action next when the Musketeers travel to the CSU Magnus Cup, running from Nov. 16-18 at the Busbey Natatorium in Cleveland, Ohio.
