Musketeers wrap up the season at 14-4-4
CINCINNATIÂ - No. 17 Xavier women's soccer wrapped up the season on Saturday afternoon, falling 1-0 to Tennessee in double overtime at Corcoran Field in the NCAA Championship First Round.
Xavier's offense kept pressure on the Volunteer defense for the entire match, outshooting Tennessee 14-4 in the first half and 17-6 in the second, with 10 shots on goal in the regulation, but Tennessee goalkeeper Ally Zazzara collected all ten on the way to a program-record 15 saves to keep the Musketeers off the board and force two 10-minute overtime periods.
Xavier again held the advantage in the first overtime, outshooting UT 5-0 with three looks on frame, but couldn't find the back of the net. Early in the second overtime, after a scrum in front of the net, Tennessee' lone shot in overtime went in for the 1-0 lead.
Xavier finished with five shots in the second overtime but couldn't find the equalizer to set the final score at 1-0 in favor of Tennessee.
Xavier finishes the season at 14-4-4 overall.

- Xavier won a share of the BIG EAST Regular Season title and the No. 1 seed to the tournament, The Musketeers advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament title match, finishing runners-up. Xavier earned a bye to the semifinals and advanced to the Championship with a win over Providence before falling to No. 2 seed Georgetown in the final.Â
