The players will join the Musketeers ahead of the 2024 season
CINCINNATI - Xavier head men's soccer coach John Higgins added three players to the 2024 roster on Tuesday afternoon.
"I'm delighted with the early signings in this class," said Higgins. "We have added quality and depth in much needed areas and recruited three great student athletes who will fit our system, style of play and culture."
2024 MEN'S SOCCER SIGNEES
Nolan Brice, D, Fr., Crestwood, Ky. (South Oldham HS)
Emeric Nicol, MF, Fr., Derwood, Md. (Colonel Zadok Magruder HS)
Cannon Scretchen, MF., Fr., Nashville, Tenn. (University School of Nashville)
NOLAN BRICE
Was a three year varsity letterwinner in soccer... recorded 13 goals and 10 assists... earned KHSAA All-District and All-Region honors... played for the following club teams: Ohio Elite KY (2013-20), Javanon FC (2021) and FC Cincinnati (2021-23)... intends to major in business... son of Kyle and Angie Brice.
QUOTING COACH HIGGINS
"Nolan has all the physical attributes to compete immediately in the BIG EAST Conference. Makel Rasheed leaves a big void for us in the center back position and Nolan will be one of a couple of players who will be looking to fill that void. I really like his technical ability for such a big guy."
EMERIC NICOL
Led his team to a 9-3 record and a regional title in 2023... recorded two goals and five assists as a defender... was named the Montgomery County 3A Player of the Week during the 2023 season... was named Colonel Zadok Magruder MVP... played for the following club teams: Sotam Futbol Academy, Pachuca Soccer Club, Aspen Hill Soccer Club and Bethesda MLS Next... also played point guard for two years on AAU Team, averaging 10.5 points and 7.0 assists per game... intends to major in business... son of Emeric Benson Nicol and Kerbeh Sao-Nicol.
QUOTING COACH HIGGINS
"Emeric will come in and help in the middle of the park in potentially a couple of different spots. Emeric is a box-to-box midfielder who can get the job done on both sides of the ball. He comes from a winning program and has some natural leadership talent that makes me really excited about him in the long term."
CANNON SCRETCHEN
Played with the MLS Academy for four years... trained professionally with Nashville SC and Huntsville City FC... brother, Joshua, plays basketball at Central State... intends to major in sports marketing... son of Derrick and Pamela Scretchen.
QUOTING COACH HIGGINS
"Cannon can win 1v1 on both sides of the ball and we are excited to add those attacking qualities in the wide areas. We needed to add a natural left footed player to the team and Cannon provides that with quality service from the left side."
