CINCINNATI - Mackayla Scarlett scored a career-high 25 points on Saturday afternoon as the Musketeers dropped a 73-64 home game to Bowling Green at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers drop to 0-4 on the year, while the Falcons improve to 2-1.
• Mackayla Scarlett scored a career-high 25 points on 9-for-16 shooting. She was also 4-for-7 from behind the arc and was 3-for-3 from the foul line.
• Nila Blackford added 10 points on 5-for-8 shooting. The forward also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds and dished out three assists.
• Kaysia Woods chipped in seven points, while Aby Shubert drained a pair of three pointers. Daniela López finished with four points and three rebounds.
• Xavier posted a .464 field-goal percentage (26-for-56) and went 7-for-23 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 5-for-6 from the foul line.
• Xavier won the battle on the glass, 32-24, and scored six more second-chance points (9-3). Bowling Green held a 20-14 advantage in points off of turnovers and scored seven more fastbreak points (9-2). Both teams scored 26 points in the paint.
• The contest featured six ties and three lead changes.
• With the game tied at 47-47 midway through the third quarter, the Falcons went on 15-3 run to take a 62-50 advantage with 1:02 on the clock. Xavier closed within four points (62-58) with 9:34 left in regulation, but Bowling Green outscored the Musketeers, 11-6, to finish the game.
