Xavier falls to Delaware, 87-80, on Tuesday Night at Cintas Center
CINCINNATI - Quincy Olivari scored a season-high 34 points on Tuesday night as the Xavier men's basketball team dropped an 87-80 contest vs Delaware at Cintas Center.
The Musketeers move to 4-5 on the year, while the Fightin' Blue Hens improve to 6-3.
Xavier jumped out to a 26-16 lead with 12:13 on the clock behind a .714 field-goal percentage (10-for-14). The Fightin' Blue Hens responded with an 18-4 run over the next seven minutes to take a four-point advantage (34-30). Xavier outscored Delaware, 11-4, in the closing minutes of the half to make it a three-point game (41-38) at the break.
The second half featured four lead changes and three ties. A pair of Dailyn Swain free throws with 13:11 left in regulation gave the Musketeers a two-point advantage (58-56).
Delaware responded with an 18-6 run to take a double-figure lead (74-64) with 7:58 on the clock. Xavier closed within seven points four times down the stretch, but the Fightin' Blue Hens escaped Cintas Center with 87-80 victory.

- Quincy Olivari scored a season-high 34 points on 10-for-16 shooting. The guard was 5-for-10 from behind the arc and 9-for-10 from the foul line. He added four rebounds, one assist and one steal.
- Desmond Claude added 14 points on 5-for-12 shooting. He made three 3-pointers and added four rebounds and three assists.
- Dayvion McKnight chipped in 12 points on 5-for-11 shooting. The guard dished out a game-high seven assists and pulled down five rebounds.
- Abou Ousmane finished with seven points on 3-for-4 shooting. The forward pulled down a game-high eight rebounds and blocked a game-high five shots (matched his career high in blocks). He added two assists and one steal.
- Xavier hit 50.9 percent (27-for-53) of its shot attempts, the team's third game of the season with a .500 field-goal percentage or better. The Musketeers were also 8-for-16 from three-point range and 18-for-25 from the foul line.
- Delaware forced 17 turnovers, converting the miscues into 30 points. Xavier won the battle on the glass, 33-28, and scored five more second-chance points (11-6). The Musketeers also held a 22-8 advantage in fastbreak points. The Fightin' Blue Hens held a 42-32 advantage in points in the paint over the Musketeers.
- Delaware hit 50 percent of its shot attempts (32-for-64) and 50 percent of its three pointers (9-for-18). The Fightin' Blue Hens were also 14-for-17 from the foul line.
