The improvements will focus on fan experience, including new seating options and hospitality.
CINCINNATI – Xavier University Athletics announced plans today for a new round of Cintas Center renovations. The upcoming improvements focus on fan experience with new seating options, expanded hospitality and additional gathering areas.
Renovations of the 23-year old arena will begin this summer with a refresh of the majority of the suites in the building.
"We have prioritized modernizing Cintas Center over the past several years to ensure that our home court is one of the premier on-campus facilities in the country," said Greg Christopher, Vice President for Administration and Director of Athletics. "With the upcoming changes over the next two summers, we will completely transform a great facility into a state-of-the-art arena that's well positioned for the future."
Additional updates will be completed during the summer of 2024, in advance of the 2024-25 season. The planned arena updates include:
A New Center Court Club: The Center Court Club, positioned on the east concourse, will be the newest premier club experience in Cincinnati. True to its name, the Center Court Club will be directly at mid-court, offering the best vantage point to watch Xavier Basketball along with elite service and comfort. Plush Club seats, all-inclusive food with an elevated menu, private restrooms and a full bar will make this a coveted seat location.
The Brew House: With community and gathering points in mind, the Brew House will add another dimension to Cintas Center. The Brew House will be an open-air bar on the main concourse with seating and standing room views of the court. This unique space will open up the overall Cintas Center concourse and modernize the feel of the arena.
Changes to The Lookout: The Lookout was built in 2017. During the 2024 renovation, key changes will be made to improve sight lines and comfort for seat holders in this exciting and unique location. While Row A will stay as-is, rows B and C will undergo significant changes to provide more seating choices for patrons in the Lookout. Row B will see a new seating style similar to a desk chair with comfort and conversation as the primary goal. Row C will be raised into a high bar top seat and a convenient drink rail in front of you.
Additional ADA Seating: Accessible seating is something that Cintas Center already offers in abundance. However, the updates will provide even more opportunities to accommodate fans with accessibility needs.
With these changes and a few other minor tweaks, capacity in the Cintas Center is expected to decrease from the current capacity of 10,224. Because of the seating changes, all Xavier season ticket holders will participate in a new seat selection process in the summer of 2024.
"Each of the changes we're making will enhance the fan experience and modernize Cintas Center," said Brett Sanders, Xavier's Assistant Athletics Director for Sales. "Suite level is one of the last pieces of the arena where Cintas Center shows its age. It's critical for us to upgrade that experience, and the chance to add a new club at the same time is an opportunity too good to pass up. Demand for more variety is driving the three major seating changes."
Full details of the seat selection process will be mailed to all season ticket holders later this month. Xavier's process for seat selection is nearly identical to the system used in 2017 following the last major seating renovations in the Cintas Center. The university's Musketeer Points program will serve as the foundation for the selection plan.
"With the fundamental changes that will occur with our seating manifest – the new Center Court Club and Lookout changes will result in some existing seating being lost – it's clear that a fair selection process was needed," said Christopher. "The process used in 2017 was well thought out and went smoothly, so we are taking that framework and improving the online portion of the process."
The Cintas Center is a 10,224 seat multi-purpose arena and conference center that officially opened in 2000 and was constructed through private donations for an initial cost of $46 million. The University broke ground on Feb. 26, 1998, and played its first men's basketball game on Nov. 18, 2000, with a win over local rival Miami. Xavier is 310-54 at Cintas Center, an 85.2 percent winning percentage.
"Our priorities for the Cintas Center remain unchanged – make the building the best it can be for the future of Xavier," said Christopher. "We can never rest on finding ways to improve this facility for our student-athletes and fans alike. Step by step, we're focused on making sure Cintas is ready for the future."
