SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Xavier baseball fell in the series finale at UC Santa Barbara, 5-1, at Caesar Uyesaka Stadium on Sunday, moving to 5-7 on the season after going 1-2 against the Gauchos.
UC Santa Barbara took the 4-0 in the first inning and added a fifth run in the second when the Musketeers went to the bullpen. Luke Bell entered, throwing a career-long 5.2 scoreless innings, with Connor Bailey pitching the eighth to keep the Gauchos off the board the rest of the way. The Musketeers drove a run across in the ninth, setting the final score at 5-1.
Xavier continues its West Coast swing at Cal Poly on Tuesday, March 9, set for 9:00 PM ET start in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
