Luke Hoskins threw a career-high seven strikeouts on Tuesday night

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Xavier baseball picked up a 7-1 win at Cal Poly on Tuesday night at Baggett Stadium.

The Musketeers (6-7) and Mustangs (3-8) each scored a run in the first inning before Xavier added runs in the fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth innings to pull away for the six-run victory.

Xavier wraps up its trip to California with a four-game series at St. Mary's, set to begin on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. ET.

ON THE MOUND

RHP Luke Hoskins (1-0) pitched a career-long six innings, allowing only one run and four hits. The Arvada, Colo., native also threw a career-high seven strikeouts.
The Xavier bullpen combined to throw three scoreless innings, while surrendering only one hit and walking one batter. Jonathan Kelly pitched the seventh inning, Justin Loer pitched the eighth inning and Nick Kolze threw the final inning.

AT THE PLATE

Andrew Walker went 3-for-4 at hte plate with three RBI, one run and three stolen bases.
Jack Housinger hit the lone home run of the game, his only hit of the contest. He now has two home runs on the year.
Garrett Schultz went 2-for-5 with a run, while Grant Stephenson went 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI.
Xavier had five more hits (10-5) than Cal Poly and committed two fewer errors (3-1). Both teams left seven runners on base.
Xavier has posted 10 or more hits in seven games this season. The Musketeers also recorded a season-high five stolen bases. The last time Xavier had five or more stolen bases was on May 1, 2022 (six stolen bases vs Creighton).
