CINCINNATI - Xavier head women's basketball coach Billi Chambers announced the hiring of Simeon Spurling as director of player development/technology coordinator on Wednesday.
"I'm thrilled to complete our staff with the addition of Simeon," said Chambers. "Simeon brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Cincinnati. He has a knack for designing game plans, developing scouting reports and providing detailed analytics from game film."
Spurling joins the Musketeers after two seasons as an assistant coach at Loyola University Maryland (2021-23). He helped the Greyhounds win double-figure games last season for the time since 2016-17.
Spurling assisted in coaching Lex Therien to All-Patriot League Second-Team honors in 2022-23. The two-time all-conference honoree was also tabbed the Patriot League Rookie of the Year and the ECAC Rookie of the Year in 2021-22.
"I'm excited to get started at Xavier," said Spurling. "When I interviewed for the position with Coach Chambers, I immediately felt that my strengths aligned perfectly with the job description. I'm looking forward to elevating all facets of our game preparation and helping our players grow on and off the court."
Prior to Loyola University Maryland, Spurling was the video coordinator at UCLA from 2018-21. The Bruins went 65-24 (38-14 Pac-12) with Spurling on the staff, while advancing to two NCAA Tournaments including the Sweet 16 in 2019.
