Three Musketeers Earn Honors from Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association

Natalie Bain, Samantha Wiehe and Maddie Reed earn All-Ohio post-season honors
CINCINNATI – Three Musketeers earned post-season honors Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association (OCSA) following the 2023 seasons. Natalie Bain and Samantha Wiehe earned OCSA Division I All-Ohio honors. Wiehe, as well as Maddie Reed, also earned Academic All-Ohio Team honors from the organization.
Natalie Bain, a sophomore defender from Alexandria, Ky., earned All-Ohio First Team honors following a season where she played in 20 matches, including playing the full time in 17 matches, on the Xavier backline. Bain helped the Musketeers enter the NCAA Tournament with a BIG EAST-best team GAA of 0.495, the sixth-best mark in NCAA DI at the conclusion of conference tournaments.
Bain made all 10 starts and playing all but three minutes of BIG EAST action as the Musketeers posted an unbeaten record in conference play. Xavier allowed just two goals, posting a team GAA of 0.20, both marks that lead the conference, with eight shutouts in 10 conference matches. Offensively, Bain finished with two points on a goal, scored in Xavier's 3-0 win at DePaul. She had 14 shots on the season, with eight on-frame.
Bain was named to the USC All-American Second Team and All-BIG EAST First Team following the season.
Samantha Wiehe, a junior midfielder from Northfield, Ohio, earned both All-Ohio Second Team honors and Academic All-Ohio First Team honors from OCSA after leading Xavier with 20 points on the season. Wiehe led the team in goals (7) and matched for team-high in assist (6), with five game-winners among those seven goals, the most in the conference and eighth most in NCAA DI at the end of the regular season.
In BIG EAST play, Wiehe led Xavier with 10 points, third most in league play, on three goals with four assists, which ranked second in conference play. She knocked in a BIG EAST-leading three game-winners, at DePaul, at UConn and against Marquette.
Following the season, Wiehe was named to All-BIG EAST Second Team.
Maddie Reed, a senior defender from Louisville, Ky., earned a spot on the Academic All-Ohio First Team after starting in all 22 matches, playing 1,950 minutes for a Xavier defense that only allowed 11 goals on the season, wrapping up the season with a team GAA of 0.500. The Musketeers had a BIG EAST-best 12 shutouts, with a shutout percentage of 0.632 in the regular season to lead the conference and rank 10th in the country.
In BIG EAST play, Reed made all 10 starts on the Xavier backline in conference play, playing all but six minutes a defense that allowed just two goals in BIG EAST action. The Musketeer defense posted a team GAA of 0.20 to lead the conference. Xavier has eight shutouts in 10 conference matches, not allowing a goal in the last six games of the regular season.
Reed was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team following the season.
