Samantha Erbach Posts Hat Trick in No. 23 Women's Soccer's 6-0 Win Over SEMO

Emma Flick scores the game-winner in opening minutes; Peyton Kohls scores a pair
CINCINNATI - Samantha Erbach finished with a hat trick, Peyton Kohls scored a pair and Emma Flick had the game-winner as No. 23 Xavier women's soccer took a 6-0 win over SEMO at Corcoran Field on Wednesday evening. Xavier extended its unbeaten streak to six matches, and wrapped up non-conference play at 5-2-1.
Xavier took the lead in the first five minutes of the match, with Emma Flick scoring from Peyton Kohls and Elin Hansson. Kohls made it a 2-0 lead in the 20th minute after getting the ball from Samantha Erbach and driving past the Redhawk defense. Erbach extended the lead to 3-0 with a shot from the corner of the box in the 26th minute.
The Musketeers had a 21-0 advantage on shots in the first half, with 11 of those looks going on frame. Flick, Erbach and Natalie Bain each had three shots overall and two on-goal in the first 45 minutes.
Kohls added her second tally of the night shortly after halftime, scoring off the pass from Hansson to make it a 4-0 lead. Erbach scored her second goal of the game, off a pass from Sara Parker, to make it a five-goal advantage, and then added a third tally off a pass from Presley Pennekamp in the 74th minute to set the final score at 6-0 in favor of the Musketeers.
Xavier finished with 37 shots overall and 21 shots on-goal, both season highs, while the Musketeer defense held SEMO to just two shots, a season-low for a Xavier opponent.
The Musketeers now head to Chicago to open up BIG EAST play, taking on DePaul on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 2:00 p.m. ET.

- Samantha Erbach finished with a career-best seven points for the game after posting her first collegiate hat trick, and picking up an assist on Peyton Kohls' first-half goal. She leads the Musketeers with 18 points on the season on six goals and six assists. Her hat trick marks her second-multi goal game of the season and third as a Musketeer, and matches Elin Hansson's three-goal outing against Michigan State earlier this season for the most goals by a Musketeer in a match since Samantha Dewey's four-goal performance against Murray State on August 22, 2019.
- Peyton Kohls finished with a career-high five points a pair of goals and and an assist on Emma Flick's game-winner. The two-goal outing also marked her first multi-goal game as a Musketeer. She has 10 points on three goals and four assists for the season.
- Emma Flick's goal was her fourth of the season and second game-winner. Combined with an assist, she has nine points for the campaign.
- Elin Hansson finished with a pair of assists, helping on Flick's game-winner and Kohls' second-half goal. Combined with seven goals on the season, she has 16 points.
- Sara Parker picked up an assist on Erbach's second goal, her second helper of the season.
- Presley Pennekamp had her first collegiate assist on Erbach's third goal.
- Xavier's defense held the Redhawks to a just a pair of shots, a season-low for a Xavier opponent and matching SEMO's season low. The Musketeer defense has not allowed a goal in over 200 minutes of game time.
- Maria Galley made the start in goal, playing 45 minutes. Taylor Thomas played the second half, collecting a pair of saves to preserve the shutout, Xavier's fourth of the season.
- Xavier has gone 5-0-1 over the past six matches, outscoring opponents 26-4 over that stretch.
