The Xavier Invitational kicked off with a competitive field at Maketewah Country Club, and Day 1 saw several strong performances, including those from host school Xavier University. While the team faced stiff competition, Xavier sits in third place overall with a team score of +10, just behind Austin Peay State (+6) and IU Indy (+8).

XAVIER TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

- Ray Filter led the way for Xavier, delivering a stellar rounds of 73 (+3) & 68 (-2), which placed him near the top of the individual leaderboard. He displayed remarkable consistency across both the front and back nines, with a 33 on the back.
- Kellen Dean followed closely with a solid rounds of 71 (+1) & 71(+1). Dean maintained strong form, recording a 34 on the front nine, and kept his mistakes to a minimum on the challenging course setup.
- Carson Bellish shot rounds of 71 (+1) & 71 (+1).  His disciplined approach throughout the round helped Xavier maintain its competitiveness in the standings.
- A.J. Wilhelm carded two scores of 73 (+3), and while a few bogeys on the back nine hurt his score, he remains in striking distance heading into the second round.
- Mason Witt had a tougher day, posting a 73 (+3) & 77 (+7), but with two rounds still to play, he will look to improve on Day 2.
- In addition to the main team, Xavier's "B" team is currently tied for fourth place with Connecticut at +12, just two strokes behind the main squad. Kyle Smith led the "B" team with rounds of 70 (E) & 71 (+1) putting him in a tie for 5th.
- Xavier is well-positioned to challenge for the top spot in the final two days, with Ray Filter looking to maintain his individual lead and the team striving to close the gap on Austin Peay State and IU Indy.
- The competition remains tight, and with one round to go, there's plenty of opportunity for the teams to make their move.
