CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball dropped its season opener, 55-36, on Tuesday night vs San Jose State at Cintas Center.
Xavier continues its four-game homestand on Sunday, Nov. 10 vs Miami (Ohio). Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. from Cintas Center.

NOTABLE
- The Musketeers took their largest lead of the game, 21-10, with 4:18 left in the first half. San Jose State ended the first half on a 6-0 run to close within five points (21-16) at the break.
- The Spartans outscored Xavier, 18-1, to open the third stanza and take a double-figure advantage (34-22) they would never relinquish. San Jose State outscored Xavier, 39-15, in the second half behind a .520 field-goal percentage (13-for-25) to pull away for the 19-point victory.
- Júlia Garcia Roig led Xavier with eight points on 3-for-4 shooting. The guard added two steals.
- Meri Kanerva added seven points on 3-for-5 shooting. The guard added three rebounds and two assists.
- Loren Christie and Petra Oborilova both chipped in five points. Christie also added four rebounds, while Oborilova added two blocks and one steal.
- Aizhanique Mayo pulled down a team-high five rebounds and recorded two steals. Tae'lor Purvis had a game-high four steals to go along with a team-high three assists.
- The Musketeers were 13-for-52 from the floor and 2-for-20 from behind the arc. Xavier was also 8-for-10 from the foul line.
- San Jose State won the battle on the glass, 42-28, and scored 10 more points off of turnovers (20-10) than the Musketeers. The two teams combined to post 47 turnovers.
- The Spartans held a 24-18 advantage in points in the paint and scored five more second-chance points (8-3). Xavier scored one more bench point (20-19) than San Jose State.
