Pair of Signees Set to Join Women's Soccer Program in Spring 2025

Petronella Winblad, Tuva Hodne set to join Musketeers next semester
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer head coach Dean Ward announced a pair of signees joining the roster for Spring 2025. Petronella Winblad will join the Musketeers as an incoming freshman, while Tuva Hodne comes to Xavier as a transfer from Charlotte.
Petronella Winblad is a defensive midfielder from Hjärup, Sweden, who has experience playing for her school, Polhemskolan in Lund, Sweden, as well as 10 years experience playing club soccer for Uppåkra IF. Most recently, she has played for Malmö FF, helping the club win the league in each of her three years playing with the squad, including winning the second highest league in Sweden this season.
In 2023, Winblad was named the "Junior of the Year" in the town of Malmö, honoring her athletic achievements.
Winblad plans on majoring in Exercise Science at Xavier. She is the daughter of Peter Magnusson and Ann-Sofie Winblad and has a sister, Filippa Winblad.
Tuva Hodne is a junior defender from Kristiansand, Norway, where she attended Lillesand Videregaende Skole. Last season at Charlotte, Hodne started in all 19 games and played all 1,721 minutes of the season for the 49ers. She helped the 49ers to eight shutouts on the season, finishing with four wins and seven draws. Offensively, she finished third on the team in points, collecting three, on a goal and an assist.
Prior to her season at Charlotte, Hodne spent two seasons at Limestone University where she started in all 34 matches she played in. In 2023, she played all 16 matches, totaling 1,415 minutes played and helping the Saints to three shutouts. In 2022, Hodne helped the Saints to the Southern Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, earning automatic berth in the NCAA Division II Soccer Championships. She played over 1,300 minutes for the Limestone defense that picked up 11 shutouts. Offensively, she collected six points during her time at Limestone, on two goals and two assists.
Hodne is the daughter of Tor Helge Hodne and Anna Vaeting, and has three siblings, Adrian, Oeystein, and Isak.
