
Swimming Opens Up Spring at Cincinnati, Travels to Bellarmine to face Knights and NKU

Musketeers face Bearcats on Friday at 3 PM; Saturday's meet starts at 1 PM
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's and women's swimming are set to take part in a pair of meets to open up the Spring semester, traveling across town to Cincinnati on Friday afternoon to take on the Bearcats, then heading to Louisville on Saturday to face Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky.

CINCINNATI
- Swimming events with the Bearcats will get underway on Friday, Jan. 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Keating Aquatic Center.
- Both Cincinnati squads finished fourth at the Big 12 Championships in the program's first season in the conference.
- At last season's dual, Xavier's women fell collected four event wins, but fell 211-83, while the men fell, 231-63.
BELLARMINE WITH NKU
- The meet with the Knights and the Norse is set for Saturday, Jan. 18, with events starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center.Â
- Bellarmine's men placed sixth and the women finished seventh at last season's ASUN Championship.
- NKU men's and women's swimming programs are in their inaugural season.
- The Musketeers swept last year's meeting with Bellarmine, with the Xavier's women winning nine of the 11 events to take a 156-46 win. The Musketeer men won six of 11 events, winning the meet with a score of 117-87.
- Xavier faced NKU earlier this season, sweeping the events to take team wins on the men's and women's side.
LAST TIME OUT - WOMEN
- Xavier was last in action at the three-day CSU Magnus Cup in November.
- On day one, Xavier's A squad of Alexis Worrall, Norah Simich, Reese Turner and Olivia Oyster posted a time of 1:33.31 in the finals of the 200 free relay to place fifth.
- Olivia Oyster set a new school record time in the prelims of the 50 free, besting her own mark at 22.46. She bested that mark in the A-Final, finishing second with a new school-record time of 22.41. Oyster also led Xavier in the finals of the 50 breast, placing fourth with a time of 28.98.
- Karlie Dodd touched just behind Oyster in the 50 breast, placing fifth in the A-Final with a time of 29.04.
- Abby Bocian took part in the C-Final of the 500 free, setting a time of 5:03.10 in the finals.
- Julia Sweetman led Xavier in the A-Final of the 200 IM, placing eighth with a time of 2:05.96. Jordyn Libler took part in the B-Final, finishing in 2:04.56.
- Reese Turner, Jordyn Libler, Erin Ritz and Olivia Oyster wrapped up the first session with a school-record time of 3:39.52 in the 400 medley relay, besting a mark the same squad set earlier this season at the Akron Zips Classic, placing third.
- Xavier collected 198.5 points to stand in third place after day one of three.
- Xavier's women opened day two of the the meet with a time of 1:40.63 in the 200 medley relay for Reese Turner, Jordyn Libler, Erin Ritz and Olivia Oyster, placing third.
- Teegan Madara set a time of 4:32.35 in the B-final of the 400 IM, placing 13th overall.
- Erin Ritz set a time of 54.54 in the 100 fly, placing fourth. Norah Simich placed sixth in the A-Final.
- Alexis Worrall led Xavier in the 200 free finals, placing fifth with a time of 1:50.40. Olivia Oyster also swam the A-final, placing eighth.
-  Jordyn Libler set the top qualifying time in the 100 breast prelims, 1:01.53, and took the win in the A-Final, finishing in 1:01.85. Karlie Dodd placed eighth in the A-final.
- Reese Turner earned a spot in the A-Final of the 100 back with a time of 55.15. She placed fifth in the finals.
- Olivia Oyster, Norah Simich, Amy Van Son and Alexis Worrall set a time of 7:30.39 in the 800 free relay to place fourth.
- Xavier had 451.5 points to sit in third after two of three days.
- On day three at the Magnus Cup, Teegan Madara's time of 17:21.01 in the 1,600 free led the Musketeers, placing 13th.
- Olivia Oyster set a new school record in the prelims of the 100 free, setting the top qualifying time at 49.53. In the finals she finished second with a time of 49.67. Oyster also placed eighth in the A-Fiinal of the 100 IM with a time of 57.80.
- Erin Ritz posted a time of 25.07 in the A-Final of the 50 fly, placing eighth.Â
- Reese Turner placed fifth in the A-Final of the 200 back with a time of 2:00.96.
- Jordyn Libler took a third place finish in the 200 breast with a time of 2:16.27.
- Norah Simich set the top qualifying time during prelims of the 200 fly, finishing in 2:00.44. She placed second in the A-Finals with a time of 2:00.27. Erin Ritz touched just behind her in third with a time of 2:01.08.
- Alexis Worrall, Maddy Lathrop, Reese Turner and Olivia Oyster set a time of 3:25.11 in the the 400 free relay to close out the meet with a fifth-place finish!
- Xavier's women collected 723.5 points to place third out of 13 teams.
LAST TIME OUT - MEN
- The Musketeers were last in action at the CSU Magnus Cup in November.
- On day one of three at Magnus Cup, Aiden Leamer, Gage Hannewyk, Ethan Saunders and Kyle Hudson set a time of 1:21.93 in the 200 free relay, placing fourth.
- Brandon Malicki set a time of 25.68 in the 50 breast prelims to earn a spot in the A-Final where he placed seventh with a time of 25.79.
- Luke Peterson placed second in the 500 free with a time of 4:29.70. Owen Schwebach also earned a spot in the Championship final, placing 10th.
- Aiden Leamer placed third in the 200 IM, setting a time of 1:49.89. Nathan Wall also took part in the A-Final, placing 10th.
- Kyle Hudson's time of 20.68 in the B-Final of the 50 free led the Musketeers.
- Matt Fralic, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson wrapped up day one with a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay, setting a time of 3:15.44.
- The Musketeers collected 241 points, standing in fourth place after day one of three.
- The Musketeer men opened day two finals with a new meet record in the 200 medley relay, with Matt Fralic, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Kyle Hudson finishing in 1:28.01
- Nathan Wall led Xavier in the 400 IM, finishing in 3:57.38 to place third.
- Aiden Leamer set a new school record time of 47.44 in the prelims of he 100 fly, the top qualifying time. He bettered that in the finals, setting the new school record at 47.27, taking first.
- Kyle Hudson placed second in the 200 free A-final, finishing in 1:38.71. Luke Peterson touched just behind him in third place, with a time of 1:38.90
- Ethan Saunders set the top time in the prelims of the 100 breast, 54.73. He set a time of 54.78 in the A-Final, placing fifth. Brandon Malicki also competed in the A-Final, placing ninth.
- Matt Fralic's time of 50.00 led Xavier in the 100 back. Matt Adanin also took part in the A-Final, placing ninth.
- Xavier's men wrapped up day two with a time of 6:44.33 for Kyle Hudson, Ryan Knipp, Aiden Leamer and Luke Peterson in the 800 free relay, placing fourth.
- The Musketeer men had 557 points to stand in fourth place after day two of three.
- On day three at CSU, Ethan Leamer placed third in the mile, finishing in a time of 15:57.04. Luke Peterson placed sixth,  Owen Schwebach placed eighth and Nick Stroh placed ninth.
- Brandon Malicki won the B-Final of the 100 IM with a time of 52.01.
- Caleb Petranchuk set a time of 22.95 in the B-Final of the 50 fly, placing 13th overall.
- Nate Finnegan placed eighth in the A-Final of the 200 back with a time of 1:52.28. Finnegan also led Xavier in the 50 back with a time of 24.29
- Kyle Hudson set a time of 46.91 to take the top spot in the B-Final of the 100 free.
- Ethan Saunders led the Musketeers in the A-Final of the 200 breast with a time of 2:03.64, placing seventh. Nathan Wall placed ninth.
- Aiden Leamer set the top qualifying time of 1:4742 in the 200 fly, placing third in the A-Final with a time of 1:46.65.
- Xavier's men closed out the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 400 free relay, with Kyle Hudson, Ethan Saunders, Aiden Leamer and Gage Hannewyk setting a time of 3:00.19.
- The Musketeer men finished in fourth place of 10 teams with 839 points.
XAVIER MEN
- Eight of the 10 Musketeers who earned All-BIG EAST last season return for Xavier.Â
- Ethan Saunders earned the honor in six events to lead the Musketeers.
- Returner Aiden Leamer also earned all-conference in multiple events and set an NCAA B-Cut time in the 200 fly.
- All-BIG EAST honorees Matthew Adanin, Gage Hannewyk, Kyle Hudson, Ryan Knipp, Luke Peterson and Nathan Wall also return for the Musketeers.
- Xavier collected 10 gold medals at last season's BIG EAST Championships including going 5-for-5 on first place finishes in relays, finishing runners-up in the team standings.
XAVIER WOMEN
- Xavier returns six of the nine Musketeers that earned All-BIG EAST last season.Â
- Olivia Oyster led the Musketeers with all-conference performances in five events in 2023-24, including posting an NCAA B-Cut time in the 50 free.
- Jordyn Libler and Erin Ritz each earned All-BIG EAST and each set a pair of NCAA B-Cut times at the event as well.
- All-BIG EAST honorees Norah Simich, Reese Turner, Alexis Worrall also return this season.
- At last year's BIG EAST Championships, the Musketeer women collected a program-best five gold medals and set new program records nine events on the way to a fourth-place finish.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier will take part in the final two meets ahead of the 2025 BIG EAST Championships next weekend, taking on Miami on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1:00 PM, the taking part in the Butler Invite on Sunday, Jan. 26 at noon.
- Miami's men are coming off a first-place finish at the MAC Championships.
- The RedHawk women placed second at last season's conference championships meet.
- At last season's dual meet, Xavier collected four first place finishes but fell to the RedHawks on both sides.
- At the Butler Invite, the Musketeers will face BGSU, Eastern Ill., Lewis, Southern Indiana, UIndy, Valpo and Butler.
- Last season, Xavier's squads combined to collect six wins at the Butler Invite, facing off with UIndy, Valpo, Lewis, EIU and Ball State, as well as Butler on the women's side.
- The Musketeer women won the meet, taking the top spot out of seven teams. Xavier's men finished third out of six squads.
BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS SCHEDULE UPDATE
- The 2025 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships have been moved up to start on Monday, February 24, 2025Â and run through Thursday, February 27.
- The championship meet will be held at the SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland, for the first time since 2021.
