Volleyball Defeats Georgetown in Five Set Thriller

WASHINGTON - The Xavier volleyball team took down Georgetown in five sets on Friday night to hand the Hoyas their first BIG EAST loss of the season.
Emma Grace exploded for eight kills in the first set as XU led the whole way en route to a 25-21 win.
The Hoyas took advantage of multiple runs throughout the second frame including a late 3-0 stretch to take a 25-22 victory.
Xavier hit a match-low .129 in the third set with only nine kills to drop a 25-19 decision in the frame.
The fourth set was an offensive battle as Xavier hit .440 and Georgetown hit an even .500 clip, but the Musketeers fought out a 27-25 win behind five kills from Charlotte Moriarty.
The Musketeers opened the final set on a 4-0 run and never relinquished their lead with a perfect side out percentage. Margo Kemp had four kills on five attempts in the fifth set to lead XU to a 15-8 win.
Xavier improves to 13-2 with a 2-1 BIG EAST record while Georgetown falls to 9-7 and 2-1 in league play.
