Boehm Named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week

McKinley Boehm earned her second BIG EAST Freshman of the Week award while Emma Grace and Margo Kemp were named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
NEW YORK - McKinley Boehm was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the second time this season after helping the Musketeers to two five-set victories over Georgetown and Villanova this past weekend. Emma Grace and Margo Kemp each earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll as well.
Boehm posted a .486 hitting percentage across both matches, racking up 22 kills and six blocks in the process.
Against Georgetown, the redshirt freshman tallied seven kills on just one error for a .429 clip and added three blocks. She followed up the next night with a career-best 15 kills against Villanova on a .522 clip and another three blocks.
The Utah native leads the league in conference play with a .473 hitting percentage and ranks seventh overall at .337.
Grace was named to the Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season after posting a double-double in both wins over the weekend.
The redshirt senior led the team offensively in both matches, tabbing 15 kills against Georgetown and matching her career-high of 23 kills against Villanova.
Defensively, she recorded 10 digs against GU and 13 at VU. The outside hitter also had three aces in both matches to notch her 100th career ace.Â
Grace ranks in the league's top-10 for kills (3.56), digs (3.15) and points (3.94).
Kemp earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Honor Roll for the first time in her career after hitting .457 and averaging 1.30 blocks per set in the Musketeers' 2-0 weekend on the road.
The 6-foot-3 middle blocker tallied 11 kills on a .450 clip against Georgetown with five blocks and two aces.
The Pennsylvania native followed up in her home state with 13 kills while hitting .462 and totaled eight blocks against Villanova including a career-best three solos.
Xavier, now 3-1 in the BIG EAST, returns home this weekend to host UConn and Providence. First serve against the Huskies is set for Friday at 6:00 p.m. in Cintas Center.
