Junior midfielder led Xavier with three points last week
NEW YORK - Xavier women's soccer midfielder Reese Slater was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after picking up three points on a goal and an assist last week, helping the Musketeers go 2-0 and remain unbeaten in BIG EAST play.
Slater, a junior from Northville, Mich., picked up an assist on Natalie Bain's goal in the first 15 minutes after serving the ball in front of the goal on a free kick in Xavier's 2-1 win at Creighton on Wednesday.
In the Musketeers' 1-0 win over Butler on Saturday, Slater scored her second goal of the season in the first 10 minutes of the match, marking her first collegiate game-winner. For the season, she has seven points on two goals and three assists.
The midfielder also played the full 90 minutes in both matches, helping the Musketeer defense limit Creighton to just two shots on goal, and then holding Butler off the board for Xavier's seventh shutout of the season.
Xavier returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 11, when the Musketeers head to South Orange, N.J., to take on Seton Hall, set for a 1:00 p.m. start.
