Milicevic leads Musketeers with career-high matching 21 points; Xavier matches season-high with 16 made threes
CHARLESTON, S.C. -Â Jovan Milicevic matched his career-high with 21 points to lead four Musketeers in double figures as Xavier took a 78-68 win over West Virginia in the Shriners Children's Charleston Classic Palmetto Bracket Third Place game on Sunday afternoon at TD Arena. Milicevic and Tre Carroll both connected on five three-pointers as the Musketeers matched their season high for made threes with 16, shooting 64.0 percent from outside.
The Musketeers return to Cintas Center on Friday, Nov. 28 to host Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, set for a 5:30 p.m. start on ESPN+.

NOTABLES
- The Mountaineers took an 11-3 lead to open the game, holding the eight-point lead with 10 minutes left in the half. Xavier went on an 11-2 run to take its first lead, then outscored WVU 12-3 over the final six minutes of the half to take a 36-28 lead into halftime. The Musketeers connected on eight threes in the first half, with Tre Carroll shooting 4-of-4 from outside to lead Xavier with 12 first-half points.
- In the second half, the Mountaineers pulled within three, 44-41, in the first five minutes of the period. The Musketeers responded with 9-2 run to take their first double-figure lead of the game, 53-43, with under 13 minutes to play. Xavier maintained a two-possession lead for the remainder of the game, going up by as many as 13 in the final minutes before winning 78-68.
- Jovan Milicevic finished with a game-high 21 points, shooting 5-of-8 from outside. His 21 points are a season high and match his career-high, set last season at New Mexico. He also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
- Tre Carroll finished with 17 points after connecting on a season-high five three pointers (5-of-6).Â
- All Wright matched his season high with four threes, shooting 100 percent from outside, to finish with 14 points.
- Roddie Anderson III added 11 points, going 6-of-6 from the free throw line, and dished out a team-high five assists.
- The Musketeers matched their season-high for made threes with 16, also set against Old Dominion. The mark is the second-most made threes in a game in program history.Â
- Xavier finished shooting 64.0 percent from outside, a season-high and the highest percentage since shooting 66.7 percent (12-18) against Morgan State on 12/10/2024.
- WVU had 32-14 advantage on points in the paint but here limited to just 6-of-22 from outside the arc.
- The Mountaineers finished with a 33-31 advantage on rebounds.
- West Virginia had 11 turnovers to 10 for Xavier. The Musketeers out-scored the Mountaineers 12-6 in points off miscues.
