Musketeers Drop BIG EAST Road Game at Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Xavier dropped a 75-55 BIG EAST road game at Seton Hall on Sunday afternoon at Walsh Gymnasium.
The Musketeers moved to 8-5 (1-3 BIG EAST), while the Pirates improved to 9-4 (3-1 BIG EAST).
The Musketeers return to action on Thursday, Jan. 1 vs Marquette. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. from Cintas Center with the game being aired on ESPN+ and The Varsity Network.

NOTABLES
- The game featured one lead change and four ties. Xavier and Seton Hall were tied for the final time, 39-39, with 4:31 left in the third quarter. The Pirates outscored Xavier, 10-4, to close the frame and take a six-point advantage (49-43).
- Seton Hall outscored the Musketeers, 26-12, in the fourth quarter to pull away for its 15th straight win in the series.
- Vivien Nejašmić scored a team-high 15 points on 6-for-10 shooting in 30 minutes of action off the bench. She added six rebounds and one steal. The guard is averaging a team-high 13.5 points per game in BIG EAST only games with a .513 field-goal percentage. She now has four career double-figure scoring games.
- Meri Kanerva added 12 points on 5-for-7 shooting. The guard added a team-high four assists. She now has 23 career double-figure scoring games.
- Audia Young posted nine points in 16 minutes of action off the bench. Savannah White finished with three points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
- Mariyah Noel had seven points, five rebounds and two assists. MacKenzie Givens added five points.
- Xavier finished with a .389 field-goal percentage (21-for-54) and went 7-for-24 from behind the arc. The Musketeers were also 6-for-10 from the charity stripe.
- Seton Hall won the battle on the glass, 37-23, and held a 21-15 advantage in points off of turnovers. The Pirates also scored two more second-chance points (8-6) and had three more fastbreak points (8-5).
- Xavier scored one more bench point (26-25) than Seton Hall and had two more points in paint (18-16).
- Seton Hall hit 46.8 percent (22-for-47) of its shot attempts and went 10-for-17 from behind the arc. The Pirates were also 21-for-26 from the foul line.
- Savannah Catalon finished with a game-high 24 points. Mariana Valenzuela added a double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds).
