MILWAUKEE - Xavier women's basketball dropped a 62-37 road contest at Marquette on Thursday night at the Al McGuire Center.
The Musketeers move to 6-22 (1-16 BIG EAST), while the Golden Eagles improve to 20-8 (12-5 BIG EAST).
Xavier closes its regular-season schedule vs Seton Hall on Sunday, March 2. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. from Cintas Center.
Xavier will recognize its three-person senior class and graduating student managers prior to tip-off vs the Pirates. The Musketeers three seniors are Loren Christie, Jordan Miller and Tae'lor Purvis.
The Musketeers will be the No. 11 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament. Xavier takes on No. 6 seed DePaul in the first round on Friday, March 7 at Mohegan Sun Arena.

- Marquette never trailed in the game and outscored the Musketeers, 19-4, in the opening quarter. The Golden Eagles took advantage of 10 Xavier turnovers in the opening frame, converting the miscues into 10 points. Marquette outscored the Musketeers, 12-7, in the second quarter to take a 20-point advantage (31-11) into the locker room.
- Meri Kanerva led Xavier with four points, two rebounds and one steal in the first half.
- Xavier hit 53.8 percent (7-for-13) of its shot attempts in the third quarter and outscored the Golden Eagles, 15-14, in the frame. The Musketeers limited Marquette to .154 field-goal percentage (2-for-13) in the quarter.
- The Golden Eagles outscored the Musketeers, 17-11, in the fourth quarter to pull away for the 25-point victory.
- Freshman Meri Kanerva led the Musketeers in scoring with 12 points, her 16th game of the season in double figures. The guard was 6-for-13 from the floor and added five rebounds, two assists and one steal.
- Irune Orio finished with seven points and three rebounds. Tae'lor Purvis added a game-high five assists to go along with five points. The guard also recorded a team-high six rebounds and three steals.
- The Musketeers finished with a .348 field-goal percentage (16-for-46) and went 2-for-19 from behind the arc. Xavier was also 3-for-6 from the foul line.
- Marquette won the battle on the glass, 41-27, and held a 27-8 advantage in points off of turnovers. The Golden Eagles also scored 17 more second-chance points (19-2) than the Musketeers.
- Xavier held a 24-22 advantage in points in the paint and scored three more bench points (15-12) than the Golden Eagles. Marquette scored four more fastbreak points (14-10) than Xavier.
- Marquette finished with a .333 field-goal percentage (20-for-60) and went 6-for-21 from three-point range. The Golden Eagles were also 16-for-19 from the foul line.
