Five Musketeers earn All-Ohio First Team; Five also pick up Academic All-Ohio honors
CINCINNATI – Five Musketeers earned Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association Division I & Division II All-Ohio honors following the 2024 season. Maria Galley, Natalie Bain, Emma Flick, Samantha Wiehe and Samantha Erbach all earned First Team honors from the OCSA. Additionally, Bain, Flick and Wiehe earned Academic All-Ohio First Team honors, while Galley and Olivia Lawson earned Academic All-Ohio Second Team honors.
Maria Galley, a goalkeeper from South Windsor, Conn., started all 21 matches in-goal for the Musketeers. She posted a GAA of 0.82, only allowing 17 goals against for the season, and finished the campaign with 15 wins and nine complete shutouts.
Following the season, Galley earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team.
Galley, a junior majoring in Biology, earned Academic All-Ohio Second Team honors in addition to earning College Sports Communicators' (CSC) Academic All-District Team recognition following the season.
Natalie Bain, a defender from Alexandria, Ky., anchored the Musketeer defense that limited opposing teams to just 18 goals on the season, and just seven in BIG EAST play. She led the Musketeers' field players in minutes played at 1,845, helping Xavier's defense to 10 shutouts on the season. Offensively, Bain has career-high three goals for the season, and combined with her assist, she has a career-best seven points for the campaign.
Following the season, Bain earned a spot on the USC All-American Second Team. She was also named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year following the season, earning a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team by the league coaches.
Bain, a junior Exercise Science major, also earned Academic All-Ohio First Team honors.
Emma Flick, a midfielder from Streetsboro, Ohio, started all 21 matches for the Musketeers, collecting 20 points on six goals and a team high-matching eight assists. Among her six goals were three game-winners, including a pair in BIG EAST matches, against DePaul and Creighton.
Flick earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team following the season.
Flick, a junior Finance major, also earned Academic All-Ohio First Team honors. She earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the 2024 season as well.
Samantha Wiehe, a midfielder from Northfield, Ohio, started all 21 matches for the Musketeers and led Xavier with 28 points. She finished the season with 10 goals and eight assists, with her eight assists matching Emma Flick for team high. Wiehe led the country on PKs during the regular season, going 6-of-6 for the year, the only player in DI with six made penalty kicks during the regular season. Wiehe played 1,664 minutes in the Xavier midfield, helping the Musketeer defense earn 10 shutouts for the year.
Following the season, Wiehe earned USC All-American honors, and was named the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and was a First Team All-BIG EAST selection.
Wiehe, a senior Biomedical Science major, also earned Academic All-Ohio First Team honors. She was also named to the CSC Academic All-America Third Team after earning First Team All-District honors.
Samantha Erbach, a forward from Lebanon, Ohio, collected 27 points for her freshman season, trailing only Samantha Wiehe on Xavier's squad. She finished the season with a team-high 11 goals and collected five assists. Among her goals were four game-winners, including the game-winning goal in's Xavier BIG EAST Championship Semifinal win over DePaul.
Erbach was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year following the season and earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team and as well as a spot in the Top 15 of Top Drawer Soccer's Postseason Top 100 Freshman list.
Olivia Lawson, a graduate student from Louisville, Ky., who is working on her MBA, also picked up Academic All-Ohio Team honors. The defender played in 20 matches for the Musketeers, starting in 16, and helped limit Xavier's opponents to just 18 goals on the season. She played 1,478 minutes, helping Xavier's defense to 10 shutouts.
Offensively, Lawson finished with a career-best 11 points, on a career-high five goals and an assist. Among her five goals were two game-winners, against Milwaukee and Michigan.
