
Student-Athletes Recognized at 2025 Xavier Academic Honors Celebration

CINCINNATI - Xavier University held its annual Academic Honors Celebration on May 16 at Cintas Center. A total of 11 student-athletes, two student managers, one athletics department student worker and one employee were recognized.
The ceremony recognized outstanding students across the university's four colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Nursing, College of Professional Sciences and the Williams College of Business.

The Nursing Mission Award: Scholarship
Awarded to a senior who represents the four characteristics of the mission of the College of Nursing: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Personal and Professional Growth.
Department of Management and Entrepreneurship and Faculty Scholarship
Presented to a senior majoring in management who has demonstrated excellence in the field of management and leadership.
The Helen Hurm Award
Awarded to the best all-around graduating senior with particular emphasis on academic achievement, participation in campus life and individual development.
The Sally Pruden Special Education Award
Awarded to a senior education major demonstrating outstanding academic performance and community service in the area of special education.
Excellence in Biomedical Sciences Award
Presented to a senior Biomedical Sciences majors demonstrating superior achievement in scholarship, research and science-associated co-curricular activities.
University Scholar
The University Scholars Program allows students from every college and major to be challenged with greater academic depth and rigor through honors courses that emphasize learning across the university engagement in the world. Students are held to high academic standards to fulfill the program requirements.
The Classic and Philosophy Honors Bachelor of Arts
The Classics and Philosophy Honors Bachelors of Arts (HAB) program, established in 1948, is Xavier University's first and oldest honors program. Influenced by Xavier's Jesuit heritage, the program emphasizes the interdisciplinary study of classical languages, Latin and Greek, and philosophy. Students take a year-long senior capstone course, which culminates in a publicly defended thesis.
The John M. Zahurancik Award
A book given to an outstanding Classics and Philosophy Honors Bachelor of Arts senior.
The Joseph A. Verkamp Greek Award
Established by the late Joseph A. Verkamp and presented to a student excelling in the study of Greek.
The Organizational Leadership Award
Awarded to the senior completing the Organizational Leadership degree with highest academic distinction.
