Young brings over 20 years of coaching experience to Xavier
CINCINNATI - Vice President for Institutional Strategy and Director of Athletics Greg Christopher announced the hiring of Stephanie Young as the new Xavier women's golf coach on Wednesday. Young brings over 20 years of coaching experience to Xavier.
"Stephanie is one of the most dedicated, thoughtful and competitive coaches I've worked with," said Christopher. "She brings two decades of success on and off the golf course to Cincinnati. We look forward to her continuing the success of our six-time BIG EAST defending champions."
Young joins the Musketeers after four seasons (2022-25) at Idaho. She led the Vandals to two tournament titles and four runner-up finishes, while posting a team scoring average under 300 three times. Young had 12 golfers earn all-conference honors, 15 golfers named WGCA Academic All-American Scholars and three golfers earn individual medalist honors.
"I am honored to be named the next head women's golf coach at Xavier University," said Young. "I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Greg Christopher and Susan Lipnickey for their trust and support. I am grateful for this incredible opportunity and very excited to work with this fantastic group of student-athletes, be a part of the Xavier athletic department and join the campus community."
Prior to Idaho, Young spent 16 seasons at Bowling Green (2006-21). Young led the team to a program record 12 tournament titles to go along with 12 runner-up finishes. The Falcons had 126 individual top-10 finishes and 11 individual tournament champions.
Young produced 57 WGCA Academic All-American Scholars at Bowling Green and had three golfers named MAC Sportswoman of the Year. All told, Young established seven individual and team school records during her time with the Falcons.
Young played collegiately at Toledo from 1998-2003, leading the Rockets to eight tournament titles. She also took home medalist honors at the 2000 BGSU Falcon Invitational.
The Paulding, Ohio, native holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Toledo ('02) and a master of business administration from Toledo ('03).
